Do you not care about the new Metallica album because their good years are behind them and it's best just to remember those days.

I don't care because it sucks.
It sounds like a band desperate to sell more records by saying, "Hey look, we can still play fast". This band doesn't need to sell another record nor do they need to go on tour for the rest of the members' lives. It's impossible to recapture your glory days.
It means nothing to the world of music. Will Pearl Jam suddenly make a record that sounds like Ten? Highly unlikely. A lot of people still give a fuck about this band, and they have every right to. But fuck if they're not trying to cash in on nostalgia.

Am I supposed to answer this before I've heard it? Because I'm not going to do that.
I don't think you can really blame them for trying to cash in on nostalgia. I mean, what band that's been around for almost 30 years isn't?
Those guys have managed to stay relevant for far longer than any of their peers, and any time they release a record, no matter the quality, it's get people talking. That alone is commendable.
And I'm not sure what you were trying to prove with that Armani picture. "Look! They are successful enough to buy nice things! FUCK 'EM!"
6 of the songs can be streamed on metallica.com, and the entire album has leaked, so plenty of opportunity to listen to the album. I like that they went back to their thrash-roots and away from the alternative rock-sound sound of Load/Reload.
Haven't listened to the entire album, but I what i have heard, except may by the too loud drums.
I disagree with everything Cameron said. No offense, just easier than typing out my thoughts.
Anyone see the new video they have? Thoughts?
You can't make a thrash-roots album without a thrash-roots singer. James Hetfield kicked ass at one time, and that time has passed. Rick Rubin can still produce a nice album but making 7 minute songs with a painfully bad singer only equals half decent nostalgia. I agree with everyone saying this is the best album since the Black Album (and I don't discredit the people saying best album since Justice). But is that really an accomplishment? If (and it's a big if) a new Robert De Niro movie comes out that doesn't make me want to punch myself in the face I'm not going to think "That didn't completely suck and it completely makes up for 10+ years of mediocrity.". If the guys want to work, I can't blame them. But at some point you should realize that you're rich as fuck, you've put in your time and earned respect, and you can now hang out until the material suits you. Or until someone close enough tells you that you've lost touch with what's going on in...
I like the new album a lot. That's all.

I haven't taken it out of my car's CD player for about 2 weeks. It's not a masterpiece but more than half of the songs on it are nasty thrash metal and I'm really enjoying damaging my eardrums with them. I am of the opinion that "...And Justice for All" (from 1988!!) was their last good album and that everything after that was yak shit. Bob Rock, who produced all the albums after "Justice" destroyed them, and their new producer, Rick Rubin, (who produced Slayer and Danzig) has brought them violently back to life. The lyrics are HORRIBLE (unconscionably, egregiously, embarrassingly bad) so I just pretend I don't speak English when I listen to it. All that said, I'm very excited to have Metallica making important music again. I humbly suggest that if you enjoyed Metallica's first four albums, you listen to this one very loudly and see what you think. I like it.
Just downloaded it and I'm listening now.
Formally Max Geinachoff.
this album is amazing. there's probably something wrong with you if you don't like it.
It's better than the Black Album.

Petition already has 13,000 signatures for an album remix.
I haven't heard the record, but apparently quite a few fans don't like all the compression used during production to max out the sound. That tweaked-out sound is notorious on stuff like Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco and pretty much all pop-punk Emo stuff, but I'm a bit surprised Metallica would fall into that trap. As I understand it, maxing out the sound on those albums is intended to make it sound better for radio play - but Metallica knows that they're not going to be getting much, nor do they need it.
