Hello. I've been in the chat and might actually post on the forum. Until then, back to lurking.
Hello. I've been in the chat and might actually post on the forum. Until then, back to lurking.
I forgot to introduce myself when I joined last year, but HELLO MY NAME IS KATE. I live in Philadelphia, and I am very self-absorbed. I think my self-absorption helps me choose what comedy I like because comedians talk a lot about what's absurd in the world (I like to talk about what sucks in the world, and in the process, feel like I am different from what sucks in the world because I point out what sucks!) and their own experiences (I just talked about an experience I have had in the world with identifying what sucks!) and stuff. Also, I like comedy because it is like an elaborate dish with the main ingredient being "what doesn't suck" in a world that seems to be made primarily of crap and suck. AST is helpful because I like knowing what comedy doesn't suck so when my roommate likes a comedian who sucks, I can secretly know what's sucking and what's not and feel like it extends to and correlates with me personally.
Hi!
Nice introductory post, in that it didn't suck.
Hey, check me out. I'm a ghost.
I keep forgetting to introduce myself, someone please remind me to do so later.
Hello, i am new to this site......i live in Jacksonville,NC..i am a marine.....i was born and raised in wisconsin.....i love funny shit, the really stupid funny shit.....the movie hot rod is the funniest movie i ever seen...i live and breathe stand up..i like zac galifinackis, doug benson, patton oswalt, mitch hedberg, and greg giraldo......Ummmmmmm yeah, wow
Do you eat, sleep and shit stand-up?
yeah, I'm new. I don't do groups well, and I'm not much of a joiner, so I don't really know why I'm here, apart from a vague (most likely vain) hope that there's a message board somewhere online that isn't overrun by cretinous 13 year-olds who think the sun shines out of their asshole and equally loathsome, somewhat older types who've pioneered this brave new aesthetic of insulting people by being as lame as humanly possible and then exulting in that lameness as if it were high art.
(Hmmmmm - judgmental often, Russ?)
I'm kind of an all-purpose geek, which is to say you can't really lump me as aspecifically comedy geek or sci-fi geek or comic book geek or whatever. of late, I'm mostly a podcast geek. A year ago, I was listening almost exclusively to NPR podcasts, most of them heavy on news. I've just about burned out on politics and current events, at least insofar as debate goes. I'd rather laugh than sit and grind my teeth at the utter imbecility of our world and its leadership, so I replaced most of the news-related 'casts with comedy, gravitating quickly to the more "alt" forms.
I got into TSOYA and from there was turned onto JordanJesseGo! and Never Not Funny and Comedy Death Ray and Comedy and Everything Else and AST Radio and all the stuff covered here, so it seemed a natural progression to join the forum.
So I did.
And why anyone needed four grafs to learn that is beyond even the author.

I make photos daily.
Well excuse me for trying to poke fun at myself...
Hey, check me out. I'm a ghost.
If I misunderstood, and I probably did, I apologize. You can kinda see why I'm not a joiner. A little gun-shy from other boards. Sorry again.
It's okay. We're all assholes here. You'll fit right in.

I'm gonna call you "new jenny"
"This is not the Beach Boys. It can't be. Why? No beach songs! I thought it was some kind of joke. All 'Pet Sounds' offers is the opportunity to hear Brian Wilson whine for forty minutes, backed by elevator music. There's barely any Mike Love on the album at all."
