And on the 3DS note: part of me really wants to upgrade to the 3DSXL, but the smarter part of me knows to wait until they release the re-design with an added control stick on the right.

I've been digging into Fallout: New Vegas and I still love it. And I actually recruited a companion so I'm thrilled.

Is there any must-have 3DS-only game yet? I actually won a 3DS a year ago but still find myself using the DS more.
    I'm in.

Yea, I wanna know as well...The Kotaku review was so good I almost picked it up, but then I read elsewhere that it got compared a bunch to the Saints Row games, which I actually never played but based on the marketing thought they'd suck. So yeah, somebody? Tell us

The Saints Row games were entertaining as hell despite the silly humor. I have only played the first two, but they were good. As long as one of the comparisons isn't that it's just as buggy as the first one, I think it would be a positive comparison.

I really don't see how the combat could be similar based on video previews I've seen.

Redbox has Sleeping Dogs available if you want to rent it cheaply before buying.

    Here are my favorites:

    - Ocarina of Time 3D: a masterpiece, damn impressive remake.
    - Bit-Trip Saga: I love these games more than a lot of people do - they're some of my favorites. Musical arcade-type games, and really tough. This is also available on the Wii.
    - Super Mario 3D Land: lots of fun. A really solid Mario game that felt new and old at the same time.
    - Mario Kart 7: if you like Mario Kart... go for it. I had a blast, but I got tired of it pretty quick.

I was disappointed in that Kid Icarus game, but mainly because it's not optimized at ALL for lefties and thus rendered almost unplayable. So, my opinion on it isn't really fair to the actual game itself.

I'm picking up that new Kingdom Hearts game soon because my roommate is obsessed with that series and I liked the first one well enough, so I'm gonna' give it a shot and let her play through it when I'm done. She's splitting the cost with me, too. It's getting great reviews, so... hell, it's not my usual bag but I'll probably enjoy myself. I'll also pick up that new Mario game at some point.

Im not really a fan of Ocarina. i think its one of those amazing at the time, innovative games that doesnt really hold up today. Mario 3D land ont the other hand is way better than I was expecting and Kid Icarus is amazin. And with Mario Kart 7 aswell as all the decent eshop stuff, and the soon coming out New Super Mario Bros, Luigis Mansion and that Mickey game, 3DS has at this point probably got a better library than the Wii.

Saints Row the 3rd was really fun, but the story and "humor" made me hate it. The actual gameplay was great though. If Sleeping Dogs isn't as sophomoric, that's a good comparison to have. I read that it has a control scheme for fighting similar to the Batman games too, which is also a good comparison. I'm at least interested to try it.

Has anyone played the new co-op version of Team Fortress 2?

I haven't had much luck getting on servers yet, but I found the game to be fun, if not a little difficult.

I will agree that the intentional attempts at comedic writing in Saints Row 3 rarely worked, but that game was still one of my favorites of last year. I really enjoyed the absolute absurdity of it all and the sort of kitchen sink approach to design that the developers took. And that game has a couple of the best licensed music cues in the history of video games.

Redboxed Sleeping Dogs and am a couple of hours in now. I like it.

It's absolutely just a GTA clone, but the Hong Kong setting feels fresh (You drive on the left side of the road!) and the fighting/driving works waaaaay better than any Rockstar games. The combat feels pretty much the same as the Arkham games, which is to say simple and satisfying.

And it's absolutely just because it takes place in Hong Kong, but anytime a game reminds me of Shenmue I get really excited.

This morning my Xbox died literally minutes before I was leaving to go buy a 3DS XL. That's some Dalai Lama shit right there.

As for the XL, it's everything I was hoping for. Better grip, better screen, better material/finish, better buttons, better D-Pad position, and probably more improvements I'm forgetting right now.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 on the other hand is one of the least interesting mainline Marios so far. It's making me want to boot up 3D Land to play it on the big screen, which says a lot since I already 100%'d that game. It's still a good game, but it feels lazy.

I've played Sleeping Dogs all day. If you like GTA games, it's basically GTA Hong Kong. The fighting is similar in concept to Arkham City, but nowhere near as fluid. It's basically a GTA clone. I'm really enjoying it, but I have always liked the GTA series. It's well done though, if you like the genre you should definitely play it. I just passed 25% completion, and I've enjoyed the whole thing so far.

It's also made by the people that did Just Cause 2... Which I kind of liked more because it was more ridiculous and over the top. I did unlock an outfit from the main character of that game just for having a save though.

It's just the same publisher as Just Cause 2 not the same developer. The developer, United Front Games, made ModNation Racers previously. Also, the reason it feels like a GTA clone is because it's just a rebranded True Crime game.

    You did get that right.

Aaaaand it actually wasn't really a True Crime game. It was being developed as a new IP, Activision thought it wouldn't sell, and attached the name to the game. Then when they sold it they didn't sell the True Crime brand with it. So it went from original IP to True Crime sequel then back to original IP. #pointless

    I just finished the

The mere mention of the word Shenmue got me too excited. (I play that game once a year, although it is actually not my favorite game or Dreamcast title: that's Skies of Arcadia and always will be). But I now have expendable monies: is Sleeping Dogs enjoyable?
