How many hours did it take? As someone who has nothing but passing interest in that game and is put off mainly because of how HUGE it looks, I'm just curious.

I'm loving Zelda. These motion controls are the first time I've ever felt like the Wii was being played the way it was intended.

Bethesda isn't dumb... they made the game in a way that allows a casual player to adhere to the main questline so they can beat it in your typical thirty to forty hour range... if that. But if you are a nerd, you can spend a thousand hours avoiding the main questline. Then with the PC versions of their games, you can install mods that make the gameplay next to infinite. I've read about serious oblivion nerds playing that game for thousands of hours with the help of mods.

The only other game I've played that felt that way was Red Steel 2.

I got Zelda a day early so I've already put a lot of hours in and I was playing Skyrim before that. It's made me retroactively mad at all the games that barely lasted me 2 or 3 sittings. I beat the last 3 Call of Duty games in 3 or 4 hours and most other games are only 6 - 10. I've probably put about that much time in playing Skyrim so far and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface.

I thought Twilight Princess made really good use of the Wii controls.

I did the main quest, the mage side quests, the "rebel" side of the cival war quests and most of the mercanary quests.... I don't know the official nerd names of some of this stuff... plus about 10-15 other side quests.... I'd say, all told, I put about 40 hours in... maybe a bit less? I played it a couple hours a night on a monitor while watching TV, plus a couple of marathon days..

The new Zelda is gaming bliss. It feels like an old relic unearthed from some ancient temple of Holy Grail Gaming, but infused with modern technology as far as how the controls and gameplay work. The graphics and presentation are a bit behind but I'll be damned if this isn't the most attached I've ever been to Zelda characters. I even love the bully guy.

I hope I'm not almost done with it.

The illusion tree is pretty decent, I'm going to stick it out, a high level perk allows you to calm/fear/frenzy undead and daedra and robots, which will be useful.

You get silent casting too, so you can cast from stealth. I just started the Bard questline in Solitude and am hoping to learn songs that have a frenzy effect so I can play music silently and make a whole room of enemies take each other out

In my day to day combat though I use low level destruction spells a lot as well.

I'm 2 perks away from finishing illusion, a bit past halfway through the sneak constellation and am thinking of going with Conjuration next.

ps. I eventually had to go back to an old save to deal with that lady. I was able to kite her all the way to the dragon with calm, but once that fight started I had a hell of a time getting her to aggro onto the Dragon. I had to calm her, then have the dragon follow me, move so that she was between the dragon and I and then hope some splash damage would hit her to get her fighting the dragon. Instead what would happen is that since I was closer to her than the dragon, she would turn on me after taking damage and then Lydia would start fighting her and it was just me and my low level archery skill vs. a dragon - with robes on and no tank.

    It was all fun!

Anyone happen to get an extra copy of Uncharted 3 for me while out on black friday? Sadly, I didn't have the will to wait until 3am to get into a Best Buy to snag a copy. But I did happen to get LittleBigPlanet 2 so I'm at least excited for that.

I'm selling it on eBay if you want it. The opening bid is $15 and no one's bid yet so have fun if you want: http://www.ebay.com/itm/140646949581

As for Elder Scrolls, one thing that bugs me is if you make a mistake and accidentally walk into someone's house you are screwed and everyone in town wants to fight you. I ended up slaughtering half of the first town (including quest people) just because I accidentally walked into a house. I wish you could say that you're sorry or something.

I beat The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword the other day, and I thought I might as well tell all of you how much I loved it. Lots!

Here's a topical comic I made, or whatever:

Sorry to do this, but I thought I would let you guys know that I'm selling 9 3-month Xbox Live cards for $20 on eBay (Buy it Now - individually). That's $5 less than retail so if you need that re-up mayn, holla.

(there's also a couple of other cheap goodies under my username but I'm not a complete asshole to list them all, right?)

How exactly did you get 5 copies of Halo, 9 Child of Eden, and 9 Xbox Live cards? Seems kinda sketchy...

Re: This is the new games thread

I just finished Arkham City on New Game Plus. It took forever, especially the last hour when all I was doing was flying around looking for random violence to stop. On the plus side, I'm really good at flying around now.

Here's a tip for anyone currently near the ending! When you're done with the Batman stuff, there's a last bit with Catwoman going through the museum. There's a really annoying mass combat you have to do before you get to the final predator mission (which is also annoying, since new goons keep getting added). The good news is that you can skip the fight! You enter the room by sliding under the fence, and you can just run across and slide under the exit fence without engaging anyone. It's great!

Anyway, the combat challenges are still too hard for me to get three medals on everything, so I think I'm done now.

It's left over work stuff. It's either this or the trash.
