How to Lose Friends and Alienate People

Frequent Curb Your Enthusiasm director Robert B. Weide makes his feature directorial debut with this screen adaptation of British writer Toby Young's comedic novel of the same name. When self-promoting scribe Young (Simon Pegg) accepts a position as a contributing editor for iconic fashion magazine "Sharps," his subsequent attempts to ingratiate himself with both his egotistical boss, Clayton Harding, and the superficial celebrities who populate the pages of the magazine prove disastrously hilarious.

Did anyone else see the thing before Dark Knight that mentioned a sequel to WarGames being in the works?

Edit: A Google search tells me it went straight to DVD, or is sometime this month.

Interesting, what you can see of it, anyway. This video seems to have been shot by a squirrel.

That actually looks pretty interesting. At least visually it is cool. Plus anything with Jeff Bridges makes me happy.

Holy shit. Are they serious?! That voice and those uh... teeth, too? This movie has been hit with racist complaints by several groups since they ANNOUNCED it, so I'd imagined that they would be going out of their way to avoid anything that could be deemed offensive. Maybe I'm just ignorant and am viewing a "Cajun" thing as more than it actually is... Regardless, the firefly's look (especially the teeth) is a little too "Sambo" for comfort.

    Re: Movie Trailers

That character and its dialect has nothing to do with black or African-American anything. "Cajun" people are descended from French colonists who originally settled in Canada.

    Re: Movie Trailers

while it's not racist (as pointed out, "cajun" is a term which does not denote race), i think it's certainly stereotypical and a little offensive. my father is from baton rouge (though a white southerner with no cajun blood) and i've spent a lot of time in louisiana and encountered people who are similar in both accent and dental health to the lightning bug, but i still think it's a pretty lousy move on disney's part. this isn't song of the south, but it is certainly leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

did you know cajun derives from "Arcadian" ?

    Re: Movie Trailers

    Controversy

The Heroine of the movie, who is the first Black American Disney Princess, caused some controversy when she was given what some people perceived as a stereotypically lower-class "black name" "Maddy" and was made a chambermaid, an occupation some felt not in keeping with the image of a Disney Princess - despite the fact that Snow White and Cinderella both had similar occupations.
On April 20, 2007, E! reported that the title of the film could possibly be changed from The Frog Princess to The Princess and the Frog, and that the lead character Maddy may be getting a name change as well. [15]
On May 4, 2007, USA Today published an article regarding the film in which they referred to it under the aforementioned title, The Princess and the Frog, and referred to the lead character as "Tiana" rather than Maddy, supporting the earlier reported name change possibilities.[16]
On May 8, 2007, BET and other online sites reported that Disney spokeswoman Heidi Trotta stated that some of the original release information was incorrect, and confirmed the USA Today names "Princess Tiana" and The Princess and the Frog to be correct. Tiana will no longer be a "chamber maid." Trotta stated "Princess Tiana will be a heroine in the great tradition of Disney’s rich animated fairy tale legacy, and all other characters and aspects of the story will be treated with the greatest respect and sensitivity."[17]

    Sex Drive

    Release Date: October 10, 2008
    Studio: Summit Entertainment
    Director: Sean Anders
    Screenwriter: Sean Anders, John Morris
Starring: James Marsden, Josh Zuckerman, Amanda Crew, Katrina Bowden
    Genre: Comedy

Loveable underdog Ian (Josh Zuckerman) is the last American virgin. At least that's how it feels to him now that he's 18, about to go to college, and losing girls to his 14-year-old brother. Ian's always been the nice guy, the best friend... never the boyfriend. But his luck finally seems to be changing when he meets Danielle. She's everything he's ever wanted in a girlfriend — fun, sexy, and she really likes him. There's just one problem. She lives in Knoxville. And he lives in Chicago. And she thinks he's the Brad Pitt lookalike he's pretending to be on Facebook. At the urging of his best friend, Lance (Clark Duke), Ian decides to confront his fear of rejection when Danielle makes him the offer of a lifetime: "If you drive all the way for me, I'll go all the way for you."

In the spirit of such classics as "American Pie," "The Sure Thing" and "Superbad," this wild romp follows Ian, Lance and their third musketeer, the spunky and gorgeous tomboy, Felicia (Amanda Crew), as they set out in Ian's older brother's beloved '69 GTO. Despite many hilarious setbacks on the road, including a stop-off at an Amish rave (who knew the Amish could party?), Ian finally meets his dream girl...; but things don't turn out quite as planned. Along the way, Ian discovers that while he's prepared to go the distance for sex, there might be something even better a little closer to home.

I know, I know, this is about as cliched as movies can get, but the end of this trailer's pretty funny. It looks a little better than the usual teen movie stuff.
