    Mockingbird Lane

I'm not sure how much of a "comedy" this is, so I put it in this forum.

Mockingbird Lane is a remake of the 1960s CBS sitcom "The Munsters" that was developed for NBC by "Dead Like Me" and "Pushing Daisies" creator Bryan Fuller. A pilot was filmed earlier in the year, and it's airing tonight at 8 PM as a "Halloween special", with the option for it to be ordered to series I guess if it does well enough in the ratings. It stars Jerry O'Connell as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as Lily Munster, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, and unknowns as Marilyn and Eddie. It is described as being "edgier and darker" than the original series, and the costumes and make-up for the characters have been heavily toned down to more resemble humans than the cartoony makeup of the original series.

I'm kinda excited for this because of Fuller is involved but I don't think it's moving forward and is only being shown due to it being a put pilot (reports deadlinehttp://www.deadline.com/2012/10/nbcs...to-go-forward/)

I read most of the script it was not funny at all. I don't know if it will be better once it's filmed. I think Vampires actually eat people whole on this show which is just a strange choice to make.

Whoops, looks like there was more wrong with this idea than the title "The Munsters."

I was interested in the themes, such as The Munsters being destined to be predators and various characters' ways of dealing with that, but the kid and Eddie Izzard were the only ones turning in interesting performances. O'Connell and de Rossi were stiff, although in de Rossi's case I think the script short-changed her. Maybe the idea was that having O'Connell cast as the lead meant you had a pretty face to offset the horror but it he just could not go toe-to-toe with Izzard's hamminess (which in this show was a good thing).
