Your wife is judgmental and inaccurate. She's the same age as Brie, but doesn't look a day older.

The avclub was down on Bledel's performance, but I thought she was more than serviceable. Her character was supposed to be sort of listless and detached, and that's what she's best at. I was much more concerned about the lack of Alison Brie in this episode. It would have helped us appreciate what a massive piece of shit Pete is, and put his disposition in a bit more context. Don was clearly unfulfilled by Betty, but Alison Brie's character is much smarter and more dynamic.

Pete might just be eternally unhappy, but I want them to explore why, dammit!

    Oh, and more Joan, please.

Not aged well? She still looks 25. You should divorce your wife, or start wearing yellow ties to work.

Have they ever explained how Pete ended up with Trudy?

He raped her. Now they're married with children. Do you suppose that has anything to do with the way he expresses his feelings now?

(JK. I always just assumed they met in school. Seems like that kind of relationship.)

Isn't Pete's family super-wealthy? I figured they married because they were of the same station and you know, ya gotta marry someone!

I think Pete's family is well off but not super rich. His dad doesn't approve of his career choice. I also think that his name carries some weight but because of some family shit he does not have as much money as he should.

Remember, in season two, Pete's dad died in the plane crash and they discovered he had squandered the family wealth.

Plus, he's adopted and was always made to feel like shit. His mother is an awful person. There's 10% of me that feels bad for him. Then he does something, or says something, so awful the other 90% punches that 10% in the face.

All of this makes it sound like Pete "got stuck" with Trudy somehow when of course she is waaaaay too good for him. How many chicks has he banged since being married? 100?

I think he does really love her but is limited in his understanding of love. His family doesn't seem that loving. He looked around for other models. He is not really behaving that differently than the male role models around him, Sterling and Don etc. He just lacks their self assured confidence. (He was right to yell at Don. That dude should not be on his high horse.)

Pete doesn't know what he really wants. So he has no limit on how over reaching he will be to get what he thinks he wants and when he touches it it leaves him unsatisfied.

He reminds me of McNulty, from the Wire. Always trying to prove something but not knowing what it is or why.

Also, I don't know how great Trudy is. Seems like a spoiled/shallow girl to me.

yeah, we can't let our highly justified love of alison brie, or even annie from community, taint how we see trudy. while we've never seen her be outright cruel, she does pout and say "daaaaadddy" when she needs something and is totally oblivious to the social upheavals happening in the (lower class) world around her.

plus, we don't see nearly enough of trudy's cleavage. how good a person can she be?

    Re: Mad Men

EVEN SO she deserves a husband who does not bang everything with tits. She has a baby and a husband. I'd like to see Trudes get it on with some hot plumber. And if anyone cheated on Alison Brie in real life I would punch them in the dick.

    Re: Mad Men

I loved the line "It's a good twist on the stupid husband, pushy wife, bit because they actually like each other." when Megan and Don were doing the Cool Whip commercial. LEVELS!!!! I love that this last season has really stripped down Don to an uncool, old man, who is constantly trying to wrangle his young wife.

I feel like Weiner and Vince Gilligan are having a competition to see who can push their character farther without the audience hating them.

The way that she roped Don into going to her dinner party was quite masterful. It shows that she's smart, understands how human dynamics work, and is capable of playing the social game. How many other character's wives have gotten equal treatment?

Is she spoiled and shallow? Sure, but so is nearly every other character on this show.

Megan's good at advertising because she's an actress. What she does and what Pete do are not all that dissimilar. I do foresee her line of work crossing paths with Don's again.

I love this show but Betty's fatty suit and makeup sure are distracting.

Sally's learning to be manipulative just like her mother.

Roger's comment about not carrying so much cash was Sterling's Gold.
