Fascinating? I don't know if I'd go that far. I think I might just like it for the office politics. Maybe deep down I wish I worked somewhere where people were engaged in Machiavellian power-plays all the time. I like to think I'd be an uncreepy, competent, less transparent version of Pete.

    Re: Mad Men

I find Peggy fascinating, taking advantage of her smarts to forge a new kind of role for women at that time, neither a useless bombshell like Joan, or a well-kept housewife like Bets. The constraints on everybody back then, and the way each of them handles it, the recreation of that world and those attitudes, and the fact that everybody is morally complicated, do shitty things but also do kind things... I dunno, I find it so enjoyable.

Oh Peggy's undoubtedly the most compelling character on the show, I just don't know that I'd call any of the characters fascinating per se.

HOLY SHIT! That's a 1982 Cadillac! Major time jump!!

Also, the piano-key tie looks ridiculous on Draper.

I assume the 20-something girl in back with the Duran Duran shirt is Sally????

I knew they were gonna do this eventually, but I was surprised that they went from drinking scotch out of tumblers to snorting coke off Joan's embalmed breasts at her funeral.

In even more surprising news, Newsweek still exists.

I will be ignoring the Internet until such time as it shall furnish my family, in all appropriate haste, with digitized entertainment of dubious origin.

    Re: Mad Men

I'm pumped. I started Mad Men during the hiatus, finished the fourth season during the hiatus, and have been waiting around for months during the hiatus. Sadly, I also have no AMC and will be avoiding all digital interaction from now until Amazon releases the instant video tomorrow.
