    The Killing

Is there a thread for this yet? I tried searching and didn't see anything. So far, so good, right? Or is this going to be a repeat of the Walking Dead thread?

    Re: The Killing

Honestly, it didn't catch my attention the first time around and seemed like a little too slow burn, but after a second go, I enjoyed it.

However I'm wondering how long can they realistically keep up this search for a killer? This whole unraveling can't possibly go on for several seasons right? I understand this show seems to mirror the premise of Twin Peaks, but I've never seen the show.

also whenever this character was on screen....

all I could think was this:

They're going to wrap up this murder in the first season and move on to a new mystery next year.

I'm not sure whether it's the crappy "I've spent a year in high school in the US" accent of the character whose image is posted above that's affecting me, but the actor strikes me as pretty awful. Anyone else bothered by his fake-tough-guy mannerisms or is it just my language snobbism that's ruining things for me? It certainly wouldn't be the first time.

    Re: The Killing

the only thing that bugs me about it is that it feels like he's supposed to be a hood rat or something but he only says a few words here and there. I can't tell if he's only playing that as part of his drug cop act or if he's just a bad actor.

This show has been decent so far, and I especially have enjoyed the Holder character everyone seems to hate, but I was disturbed by some comments I read elsewhere

Well, the show is based on a foreign show right? I haven't looked it up because I don't want to spoil anything but you might be able to see something about that.

    "No flowers. Flowers die."

With the uber-somber atmospherics turned up to eleven, this show feels like a Seltzer/Friedberg parody of AMC series.

    Re: The Killing

So, is it going to be the angle of the show that they add another suspect at the end of every episode? Obviously that can get really old, but right now it's intriguing.

    Re: The Killing

Since everyone stopped talking about this terrible show, I'm wondering if people have quit watching it, or, like me, they're still watching it to make fun of it with their significant other and/or see how ridiculously bad it will get.

    Re: The Killing

This is easily the worst show AMC has done, no contest. Even if it ends strong, which I am really doubting at this point, that isn't going to justify all the stupidity and badness of the past few weeks.

For reals? I'm genuinely curious how anyone can find this collection of idiotic plot twists and mopey, non-dimensional characters compelling.

    Re: The Killing

I'm enjoying it, even if I think they could definitely ease up on the manipulative "look how sad this is" sequences with somber music and people gasping and crying. We get it, already: people get sad and have a hard time handling it when their kids die.

I'd give it a solid three stars. I really like the lead actress - she has a very naturalistic and unaffected style that I think is unusual in TV.

It ain't high art, but I really don't think it's quite as dumb as the haters make it out to be. It's kind of "Damages in the Rain". But I will admit that I might have dropped it from my viewing list if I didn't know there were only a few episodes left.
