    I NEED INSPIRATION

I have to come up with stuff for work every day. My well has run dry the last few weeks. If you've seen anything on youtube or the internet in general that looks cool, sounds cool or you found inspiring or innovative, please post it here. My brain will thank you.

This helped me a lot. If only I could relax enough to take the advice listed.

That is good advice. I should take it. I do get inspired by music and visuals though... like I said, if you have seen anything that struck you, and you have a second.. throw it in this thread.

    Re: I NEED INSPIRATION

There is this awesome documentary I just watched on Netflix called "The Invention of Dr. Nakamats" and it's great, both because he's a fascinating/crazy guy, and also because, while some of his methods for inspiring creativity are completely batshit silly, there is a grain of truth in them that you could possibly apply. Plus, he's such a kook that it could get your mind thinking in different, more absurd ways that could be good. Plus it's only 57 minutes.

I've been watching a lot of Steve Winwood music videos lately... some are pretty compelling. The one for HIGHER LOVE could have been directed by Wong Kar-wai.

Go to ubuweb's film page - watch some classic shit - ripping off the avant garde was first innovation in motion pictures.

Watch any B-movie that comes on TCM.

I watch these beautifully-shot/edited car documentary short videos to get inspired:

Even if you aren't a car nerd the aesthetic qualities of them are cool. Or maybe not just trying to help jeeeez!

also, sometimes when i'm feeling down/uninspired i watch clips from the 80s BMX movie 'Rad' on youtube (specifically, the qualifying race scene, in case anyone was wondering). I do this because I loved the movie as a kid and watched it all the time. it can be inspiring to watch something that you used to love because you remember why you liked it and how it made you feel. sometimes just forcing myself to FEEL something is enough to get me going.

yeah. so try looking up things you used to love on youtube. avoid things that will make you all wistful and sad though. only awesome stuff.

I did that with the 1989 Felix the Cat movie and ended up really depressed because I had to have been a rock-stupid moron of a child to have enjoyed a single second of that nonsense.

Watch "Bill Cunningham: New York" on Netflix. I watch it occasionally to get inspired to take pictures. His work itself isn't particularly inspiring, but his attitude, grace, and work ethic are.

    Re: I NEED INSPIRATION

Today I was inspired by tuna noodle casserole. My sudden and urgent craving led to some pretty deep thoughts (and writing) about my mother's struggle to feed her mom-less family of four at age 9 on a shoestring. I'm always amazed at the odd little placed I find inspiration.
