Who else here is a Stern listener?
Did anyone else have the pleasure of hearing Richard Christie get his package waxed today? I know it's terrible but I couldn't stop laughing.
Fla fla flo hi.

No, I listen to NPR.
(I hope this post makes you feel bad)
This should probably go in the comedy forum, but there are a few of us. Its a good show. I probably wouldn't listen everyday if I had a job that required more alertness, but I'm hooked enough that I'd listen to the Friday best-of show. Its one of my top 3 radio and pod programmes.
Ah well if a mod wants to move it to Comedy, that's cool. While I crack up at it every day (It does make the time pass as well...) I've never heard people talking about it on this board. At least not that I can remember.
Can there really be so few Stern fans? Or have people like Mean Belldoodies* made them feel unwelcome?
As many times as I'm grossed out by the show, or just Howard's lechery and fighting with his staff, I still love to listen the next day. I also find myself wanting to give Artie a big hug and tell him not to fucking kill himself anymore.
Did anyone else listen to the History of Howard Stern a few weeks ago? It was fun hearing the tapes of him from college and in his dad's studio when he was a kid.
Fun fun fun.
*See what I did there? I made your name into something involving poop. How does THAT feel?

Artie didn't show up for the Saget roast, and cancelled his weekend shows. Whither?
Howard's on reruns this week. I hope that's not related...
Artie was dozing off again last week too...
God, I wish that guy had some concept of self-worth.

Thanks to my Dad being a fan of listened to the show for about fifteen years. I still try to catch the Sirius show on Bit Torrent. I love Artie, his stories and his drama. The relationships and fights of the staff are always the high point. It's almost like a serialized radio drama, made up almost entirely of surly middle-aged men. You hear a lot of that on The Wrap-Up Show, too.
I'm actually glad that Richard and Sal's gross-out bits have been downsized. They were getting annoying for me. I do like their prank phone calls, though.
Who else is looking forward to Artie's book?
I love the show, have for years. David Letterman and Howard Stern are basically the twin engines of my comedy development (talk about damning with faint praise).
I know Jen Kirkman is a fan, Dino Stamatopoulos, too. Jason Nash has talked on "GWF" about Stern, too. There are others!
We subscribe to the "Howard TV" On Demand service & it's about the best $12 you can spend each month on entertainment.
I have been a Sirius member since Howard started, and basically get to listen to the entire show every day at my desk. It's the one thing keeping me from blowing my brains out at my desk sometimes.
I grew up in Philly, where Stern was #1 since the day he started in that market, and it's so weird to be a fan in LA. I feel a bit like an odd man out (well, woman).
If anyone doesn't have Sirius, I recommend signing up for the three day trial and listening to Howard's Best of they are airing this week... it shows how fresh and hilarious the show really is.
I'm a fan! We just got OnDemand and ordered Howard TV right away and I will agree with (Mul)Doomstone that it is so worth 12 bucks a month. I watched Robin's announcement of her break-up with Jimmy and it was truly heartbreaking. I'm usually in the "Robin, shut up" camp but I really felt bad for her.
I don't know if this is still available on Howard TV but the Gary "Please Take Me Back" tape was awesome if only to catch a glimpse of his outfit and haircut. Insane.
On the old shows today they played the Eric the Midget "You Know What To Do" deal. It doesn't get much funnier than that, except maybe when Fred does "Zero. point. zero" and makes Eric's head explode.
Mantra + Yantra = Tantra is my current favorite thing.... next to Richard Christie's prank calls.

I'm with (Mul)Doomstone. Stern and Letterman are the two giants. It seems like almost everything that has happened comedically in the last 25 years has been influenced by one or both of them. After almost 20 years of listening of Stern, though, I'm starting to finally burn out on it. I'm happy Howard has reached a place where he doesn't need to try so hard anymore, and I don't miss his being angry all the time, but it really seems to have turned into the Artie Lange show, which isn't what I signed up for. Howard doesn't open up and reveal shit the way he used to. I can't fault him for that, but it makes him less compelling to listen to and harder to relate to. I would love to hear about what it's like to be so rich.
I'm sure I'll keep listening until it ends because the bright spots are still as good as anything out there, but they seem fewer and further between these days. But the guy's still a great interviewer and a brilliant ringmaster.
Also, I really, really hate when he talks politics. Oh, and that Richard and Sal call with Riley Martin--the "Hello, Stephanie" one--is as good as anything ever.
Possible Side Topic (if you don't mind crly). I haven't heard Stern in years (really enjoyed his movie way back... shit was that 12 years ago??), I was wondering if anyone has heard or has opinions on Bubba the Love Sponge. He's close friends with Stern and he just came back to Tampa Bay terrestrial radio in January (I've never heard his Sirius show which he still does I believe). I like 'em and he's even toned down a bit from when he was last on the radio (not a bad thing). The best part of the show, to me, is the comradarie and talk between his crew and him. Manson is funny as shit with his ridiculous Bush and song lyrics. Ned's great (calling Mattel about Barbie are classic) and I feel like the others are pretty damn astute when it comes to current affairs. Overall a good show, fun to listen to in the morn.
my cousin is on Something Awful and he keeps sending me collections of bits that they have been compiling. I've been going through all the Gilbert Gottfried appearances and man is that guy funny. He KILLS on that show. In fact, any appearance on any show from him is gold.
nathan smart!

I am a HUGE fan.
I listen everyday Nathan.
Gilbert rubs me the wrong way though.
The best stuff with Gilbert is when they talk about how cheap he is...
I listen to Bubba but I'm in and out...
I listen all the time too...Artie's apparently in rehab. And as for Gilbert, I love all of his appearances, but the most fascinating part of his interviews are when he awkwardly describes being a father. It sounds like he doesn't believe it or want to acknowledge it.
I invented this thread, Robin. Hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo. F Jackie.
