So... besides a lame red carpet opening what did you guys think? I liked it, but I'm also a simpleton when it comes to sci-fi.

You like videogames, right? Here's my review.
No More Heroes.
As much as I want to like this show, I just can't get into it. Maybe there are too many characters and not enough of them are interesting. Or maybe it just seems to wander around without any clear purpose. Or maybe it's just a little bit too corny. I just don't care.
Also, I didn't get too worked up when this show ripped off Watchmen or Rising Stars. But I got angry on behalf of David Cronenberg last night.
I did like that Marlowe showed up, however.
I think I've become accustomed to having tons of story arcs and characters and so I can handle a slow burn better. Although, that bit me in the ass with Carnivale.

See, I liked Carnivale a lot, and I thought it got cancelled right as things were really picking up. (Although the first season was way too slow.) I don't mind a lot of characters or a complex storyline - I love Battlestar Galactica and Lost and The Wire, etc.
Maybe it's just that this show isn't all that smart. Also, I read a lot of comic books, so none of this is really new to me, either. It just seems to range from mediocre to really, really dumb.
I didn't mean to say that I didn't like Carnivale, I loved it! But I'm just worried that these shows will end and not be able to conclude. Not everyone gets a "Hawaiian Episode."
I have to say, though, that I cringed BIG TIME when the African dude said, "I should've gotten Sprint." YIKES

This show is terrible, and an attempt to sell nerdery to jocks and imbeciles. I'll have none of it. The dialogue is more All My Children cheesey than comic book cheesey.
Worst, because I am a nerd everyone tries to talk to me about it.
Kill it, gods.
I quit watching the show when an episode stopped for a car commercial featuring two main characters.... the dad gave the cheerleader some sort of car, and they said the entire full name of the car twice and had close ups of the logo. "Thanks dad, for the Pontiac Solstice" It has the most blatant and disgusting product placement of any show on TV.
I really can't believe how blatant it is! but in all honesty, it doesn't make the stories any less interesting.

Nathan, if I am ever rich from professional jokering, I am going to buy you a goddamn drawer at your local comic shop so you remember what real storytelling is.
Are you reading Invincible? Maybe you are and you're meh about it. Find something else!@#
(I am pretending to be incensed for the most part. I have a personal history with this show that will haunt me forever and it taints my opinions.)
I watched the first season of this show. It moves too slowly, and it just really isn't that good.
I already admitted that I'm a simpleton when it comes to this stuff. I don't really have any loyalty to comics or sci-fi or fantasy or whatever so I am able to deal with corniness, bad dialogue and broken stories. I don't hold any of it dear to my heart so I really don't care. I can sit back like the rest of dumb America and be surprised at every obvious plot twist. This is my MADtv.

I find that unacceptable. Settling for Heroes when there are so many good shows and comic books out there is like going to New York and eating at the Olive Garden. Like going to the Playboy Mansion and spending your evening hanging out in the tool shed.
You're better than this, nathansmart. I believe in you.
(Now, I can understand if you got tired of eating at fancy restaurants and wanted to settle for cheesy bread every once in a while. At least then you'd know the difference. But good god, man. Broaden your horizons.)
(By that I mean watch more TV and read comic books.)
Hey, I only have so much money to burn on nerdy things - I just chose video games. It's not my fault that video games cost 10 times more than comics. Plus, with video games I can play the stories and not have to read them.
I've drifted throughout my life in different nerd areas. I started with video games and moved into anime for a bit. Then I was buying as much hip hop vinyl as I could find and then for a while it was DVDs. Now that I'm married and I'm becoming a tiny bit more fiscally responsible I've narrowed it down to the one I love best.

Hey, I'm still able to watch other shows but there's a side effect of being a simpleton. I'm able to like dumb stuff and not be interested in the good stuff. I've come to grips with my friends liking Dane Cook and not liking Andy Kindler. I can deal with that.
Now you deal.
I'm getting tired of trying to be a snob at everything I do. It gets boring and I get too anxious.

Have you played Mass Effect?
Don't worry, this is my last attempt to save your nerd soul, and then I will let you run free in your fields of mediocrity.
I haven't played Mass Effect yet - I love the star wars RPGs that those guys have put out (well, they put out the first one) but I wasn't so keen on Jade Empire because you actually had to do the fighting and it got boring quick. That's one thing I'm scared of with Mass Effect. I'd rather I could just hit the attack button and then they would do all the work - I'm more interested in leveling up. Of course, with that said, I don't have time for it!
It's in my GameFly queue and I'm sure I"ll play through it for awhile before I give up and just send it back like I do with all RPGs. I used to be an RPG nut back in high school but I can't pull all-nighters anymore and RPGs are no fun when you have to get up in the morning.

Bump it up to the top of your GameFly queue and play it when Heroes is on. You will emerge a more hearty, soulful individual.
Yeah, but then I'll miss the brotherly relationship of Silar, Peter and Nathan.
