Joffrey is my second favorite character now, next to the dude who cut off his horse's head after the joust.

I've been watching the series with friends, and we actually cheered at the end of the finale. I think I'm going to have to read the books, next spring is a long ways away to hear about dragons.

I'm actually more excited to find out what's north of the wall than the dragons. (Those things are babies, it'll be a while until they're doing anything really cool)

    I love this show.

Geoffrey is the new Pete Campbell.

I am reading the books. And trying to follow the ever-evolving and intricate plot with dozens and dozens of characters. And every time I try to use the internet to help me, I find out another person who is going to die eventually. FUCK.

www.towerofthehand.com is great because you can get info and keep the scope as far as you've read/seen.

    Re: Game of Thrones

I have enjoyed Game of Thrones more than maybe any other show I've ever watched. I ordered the 4-book box set last week and it just got here, so I'm going to probably spend the summer devouring those. And I've preordered the 5th book on Amazon.

It's been really difficult to avoid reading the entire internet; I've accidentally come across SOOOOO MANY infuriating spoilers. It's insane. My favorite character - Theon Greyjoy (who I thought was the new Pete Campbell - not Joffrey) - I can't even bring up what I found out about him. Ugh. So yea. I have to read these books QUICKLY before anything else is spoiled for me.

Never really been into fantasy, so I have NO IDEA how this happened, but I'm in deep. Can't wait for season 2!

AND I want to add that I may just read the first book... I'm not sure if I'll enjoy the series as much if I know what's coming. So much of my investment in the show has hinged on surprise - I think!

The other side of the coin is that I've come across soooo many spoilers about the fates and futures of pretty much all of the major characters, it really doesn't make sense to hold out!

    DECISIONS!

I found reading the books more enjoyable then the show(both are great, but the books are more gripping). Stay ahead of the spoilers and cram the books and get ready for the new one next month. Then start cutting yourself every year the next book is delayed.

I made fun of my roommate when this show was announced because he was elated that his favorite fantasy book series of all time was adapted into a TV show. Now I'm excited about going to the Game of Thrones panel at Comic Con. What the fuck did you do to me, HBO? WHAT DID YOU DO?

    Re: Game of Thrones

Note: shitty spelling on my end is due to typing this on a mobile.

    10:27 AM
Bobby: alright i rewatched episode 10 yesterday

i've decided to take the Black

    i'm joining the Night's Watch
    10:29 AM
    me: Which is 10?

    Bobby: the last episode

    me: Oh

Bobby: the speech the Lord Commander gives about how it doesn't make any difference to him who is on the iron throne
    10:30 AM
they serve the realm of men

    i like that

    me: Will watch later today

Bobby: and i decided i want to join the Night's Watch

and not bother with all that BS in King's Landing / Winterfell

i want to kill some fuckin white walkers with Jon Snow

    me: Enjoy lifelong celibacy
    10:31 AM
Bobby: oh yeah that is the one question i wanted to ask you

    can they masturbate?

if they can masturbate, i'm good

    me: Don't see wby not
    10:34 AM
Also a lot break the vows anyway

Bobby: that's what it seemed like based on reaction to jon's leaving being a little more than a shrug
    10:36 AM
me: Also why worship the seven? The old gods id where it's at
    21 minutes
    10:57 AM
Bobby: that's one reason i really want to read the books

is to get more clarity on the new vs. old gods

so far all i get is that the old gods are somehow in those weeping trees

question: are those trees at all like the trees in Avatar?

    Ey'Wa?
    10:58 AM
    me: Those trees aren't them

    They are their eyes

Bobby: what's up with the new gods?
    11:01 AM
me: They are brought by the andals

    Bobby: the who?

me: Who conquered everything but the north

Bobby: oh the weird funeral for John Arryn in the first episode - is that new gods shit?
    11:02 AM
    me: Probably

    He's be an andal

Anfalse are kind if like normans

    11:42 AM
Bobby: apparently there are rumors that Gerard Butler is being thrown around as casting for Stannis

    oh nvm it was bullshit

    me: Hmmm

    Ok
    11:43 AM
Bobby: but there is at least fan speculation for ian mcshane coming on board for season 2

    as Balon Greyjoyy

could just be a fan pipe dream
    11:44 AM
    me: Hmmm again

Neither is how I imagined them
    11:45 AM
    Bobby: http://i.imgur.com/KlMTt.jpg

me: Actually the guy who plays tywin is how I'd imagine balon
    11:46 AM
    Bobby: that guy is awesome

    both the actor and character

i love how these characters they introduced in like the last 3 episodes of the season are all awesome
    11:47 AM
except tyrion's whore has a really bad acting moment in the finale that's the only blemish on an otherwise perfect hour of television
    11:49 AM
    me: ABWGoT

I don't know. Because I don't take myself that seriously and it amuses me how dorky I've become about this show when we're normally not like this at all, which would indicate how awesome it is? Have you seen it?

I was only teasing, of course. I watched this season and I LOVED it. I haven't read the books and I'm glad for that since it's so crazy and unexpected. Bummed we lost Dave Navarro in the last episode but that final scene with Daenerys was so, so cool.
    I you.

    Re: Game of Thrones

You guys watch dragons are going to be this year labradoodles.

I am listening to the audio books and it is much better when I'm ahead of the show. There are enough subtle changes in the show to keep me guessing.

I do like the way the books deal with John's training with The Black. How he protects Porkins when he shows up is a huge turning point for Snow. It is the moment he becomes a leader and less of a whiny bitch in the book. How they show this is fucking great in the book.

I didn't think the lesbian scene was that unnecessary. Over the top maybe but it did serve a purpose. Here is this guy watching two super hot women and he seems totally asexual. He only looks at the logistically. He is cold. It kind of reminds me of the vibe I get from Tom Cruise whenever he talks about how sexy his wife is. I don't think he is gay he just sees most human urges as a trifle.

I loved the leader of the King's Watch throwing his sword down. I hope he comes back shoves a foot directly up The Hounds ass.

The scene with the Grand Maester acting all old and shit. He is sitting there basically letting everyone know "Hey fuckers I out lasted all these kings." Then when Sansa leaves you realize that he is playing possum. It reminds me of a line from the underrated Way of the Gun. James Caan says "The only thing you can guess about a broken down old man is that he is a survivor."

I bet he is loyal to the Dragon family or something. (I don't have information just my feeling.)
