    Re: Comic Books!

Mi español es muy malo, so I translated Dark Horse's description of an upcoming Goon issue using a free internet translator, here's what I got:

"LIZARD MAN RETURNS! Oh, Jesus sweet! The horror of that Man Lizard ham sandwich has returned! The devil! is the devil! The Mister save us! Lizard Man will eat to its babies in the night! Flies like bad cats in the face!"

I'm pretty sure that is 100% correct.

Does anyone know of an app for the iphone that keeps track of new releases weekly? Something like comiclist for my phone.

    Re: Comic Books!

Is anyone else reading Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man? I just caught up and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it so far. I enjoyed the dynamic of having Miles' uncle as the first real villain, so I am looking forward to seeing what the next arc brings.
I obviously have nothing interesting to add to this conversation.

You'll be happy to see this then: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...rt-this-sucker

Never read Goon before but this has made me want to check it out. Any suggestions?

The trades should be readily available, start at the first volume (available digitally too: https://digital.darkhorse.com/profil...misery-bundle/)

I'm reading Sean Howe's MARVEL COMICS: THE UNTOLD STORY and it is a fantastic read. The period covering the 70's in particular is amazing (the inmates were truly running the asylum) but the whole thing is worth it.

That new Deadpool that Posehn cowrote was pretty good. In other news, Asterios Polyp blew me the hell away. That should be taught in lit classes, or be used to create one.

Oh yeh, and I may be in the minority but I've been loving the Rex Robot / Monster Girl storyline in Invincible. Too bad it couldn't have been even more fleshed out, like in it's own miniseries. It's not like Rex Splode and Atom Eve told such an epic tale. Kirkman probably had more free time then though.

The Goon kickstarter was successful! With this, news of the Locke & Key trilogy, the Chew TV series, and The Walking Dead getting... better, it's a good time for comics turning into videos.

I also enjoyed Deadpool #1, but am completely new to the character, other than the couple issues of Ultimate Spider-Man he appeared in and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I really enjoyed it. Is this a re-imagining of the character or is this pretty much how he always is? Fucked-up skin and wise cracks?

Haven't read it yet, but I do have 3 Deadpool classic volumes and yeah he's like that.

    Re: Comic Books!

Reading through the first dozen or so issues of the 1997 Deadpool book, it's not so endearing. He's kind of the Kevin Smith Movie of comic-book characters. I think he only works if you don't try to peer too deep into his abyss, so to speak. And the art is like Ramos but not good (if you like Ramos, which I do).

Saga is so good that I'm annoyed it's a serialized story, because now I have to wait another month to see what's going on with the grandpa.

Invincible... Christ, that book is still great, but finding new and innovative ways to be creepy.

Coda issue of The Boys. I dunno if this was necessary, I kind of liked the absurdist, gory ending in the previous issue, it suited Hughie.
    I'm in.

    Re: Comic Books!

As a palate cleanser I was reading the Grant Morrison Batman stuff and was enjoying it well enough and then I got to Batman #700. Heehhh? Will reading it nine more times help me understand it? I don't even remember what I didn't get.

All-Star Superman was really good. I didn't expect to like it but I did. For me, the key to making that character tolerable is turning everything up to 11.

Oh, right, a palate cleanser from the Dark Reign stuff, which is chock full of shit I don't care about like Ms. Marvel and Agents of Atlas or whatever the fuck.

Just finished the final Amazing Spiderman. I don't know how to feel. The Spiderman character feels ruined. BUT the events that took place in the final issue will force me to purchase Superior Spiderman #1. So, I guess it worked. MARVEL NOW!

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

    Re: Comic Books!

I just read all 15 issues of the new run on Batman by Scott Snyder and I loved it. It's part of the New 52 so it's easy for someone like me to get into it without knowing all the backstories, and the current Joker storyline is fantastic. Seeing Joker with his face sewn back on is a pretty creepy new look for the character as well.

All New X-Men is great! Anyone reading that? I love how Beast keeps evolving, although I'll miss the cat-looking Beast.

    Re: Comic Books!

I quit reading comics a long time ago (I still read the occasional graphic novel, but I gave up on series), but now that I've gotten an iPad I think I might give it a shot digitally. Does anyone else do this? Has anyone else tried this?

    Re: Comic Books!

I read all my comics on my ipad. An iPad and thepiratebay pretty much make for comic book heaven. It's nice when you hear people talk about a comic that might interest you and you can just go online and download every single issue for free instead of investing 15 bucks in a trade paperback or something and then you end up not liking it. I've discovered quite a few comics this way that I never would have given a shot before.

Also, I recommend using ComicFlow. I think it might cost 2 bucks but it is worth the money. I tried CloudReader first but it kept constantly crashing on me and sometimes took a while switching between the vertical and horizontal views when you flipped the iPad.
