Spielberg is developing Locke & Key for television. Sounds like a damn good idea. I've only read the first two volumes, it's a good book. Had no idea Stephen King's son writes it.

I HAVE FEELINGS ABOUT THIS!
Sandman on TV
Check out the facebook page for my upcoming comic book, Power Chords, from Image Comics, with art by David Hahn. Here is some of David's concept art. Enjoy.

I know! Why a TV series, why? The books are so complex and the characters look different in every story. Maybe a movie but a series? Who could keep up with all the different things going on? And you need a ton of backstory! I don't like it! Not one bit!
Immediately trashing this Sandman project is along the lines of immediately praising The Walking Dead after seeing the trailer.
Once movies got superheroed, anything was game and we got some great (and not so great) films. Obscure (Scott Pilgrim) and mainstream (Batman) characters alike all got shots at the medium.
So now TV (finally). We have Walking Dead (definite), Locke and Key (most likely) and Sandman (maybe). I like where this is heading as comic books are, if anything, serialized storytelling. We'll have good ones as well as shitstorms for sure, but at least we get to see something. Either it will be beloved or just simply ignored depends on the quality (yeah a CW Sandman sounds dreadful). On bunny's point though for a Sandman movie, Gaiman has been working on a Death: The High Cost of Living stand alone film to write and direct for a really long time now (before Stardust).
This trend has me hoping for a revival of the HBO Preacher idea. Sam Mendes got all divorced and Broadwayish and stuck Preacher away (probably a good idea). But then Joe Carnahan has been putting out open letters saying he's actively seeking the property. Please god no. EDIT: looks like it will be him. Nothing official, just rumblings on the net of "a" director getting signed coupled with his lobbying. It's also on his imdb page now. Sigh. Shit.

There was a show on ABC Family called Middleman that was based on a comic that was actually very good. It got cancelled, probably because no one who would want to watch that expected anything good from ABC Family. But I really recommend looking for it.
Gonna pick this guy up this weekend:
Johnny Ryan is the best guy ever and I will fight for his honor.
I've read that a Chew TV series is in the very earliest stages, and that has the potential to turn out really well.
Creator John Layman has repeatedly said that he likes Ken Lueng for the role, whatever that's worth. He's even said that the character's appearance is modeled after him.
Yeah, and at one point Layman said he would ONLY sign off on a TV show if Ken Leung was cast. There's absolutely no news of that actually being the case now that a show is in the works, but maybe he actually got him?
No spoilers, because you all should read it, but the latest Secret Six has some AMAAAZING nerd-bonerage for AST'rs.
Eyes are the losers in the skies.
Only rumor at this point. But it looks as though Aronofsky is on the list of Superman director choices (with Zemekis, Snyder, Reeves and others). More importantly is that Columbia may be trying to get him to helm the Preacher movie that Sam Mendes exited a couple years ago. He would have to choose one (they'll both be filming in late 2011), and if he went with anything I would much prefer Preacher, while one of the other names being bandied about take Supes.
Here's hoping (raises glass) Joe Carnahan doesn't get to have Preacher.
Locke and Key is so badass. The first issue of Keys to the Kingdom that both advanced the plot, was a Calvin and Hobbes tribute with very waterson-esque humor and art, and told a complete story about Bode getting friends, WHILE being a thrilling battle and incororating the key magic that everyone wants to see, was so well done it was infuriating.
But enough of that shit. INCOGNITO IS BACK! And sooooo badass. I think this is now tied with Invincible for best superhero comic.
How's Grant Morrison's Zenith? About to jump in.
And eff the haters. I liked JMS' Superman Earth One.
EDIT. Lol at repeating the phrase "so badass." Totally not intentional. I'm tired.

For anyone interested Comic Book Confidential is on Netflix instant watch. It is a bit out dated, released in 1988, but still it is interesting.
