    Re: Breaking Bad, Anyone?

I'm not one for buying into fan theories too often, mostly because the writers always seem to have something way better up their sleeves, but I saw a theory recently that there is a security camera in Hanks' office, and this is how he'll discover the truth about Walt. This will lead to some sort of witness protection/relocation deal, which is why Walt will end up with a different name on his 52nd birthday. I'm sure there are no less than 100 bajillion holes in that theory, but it's interesting just the same. Obviously Hank is gonna find out sooner than later. It would be a pretty awesome cliffhanger for him to find out before the season break.

I don't think he's been seen just yet, but I think there is footage of him bugging the office. I mean it's a DEA office, so of course there are cameras everywhere.

Yeah, it makes sense and it seems crazy that Walt wouldn't think of that.

I doubt there is a security camera that Walt missed, and I assume the different name on the license was just a fake ID.

I think a security camera in Hank's office catching Walt would be a bummer. A very simple mistake seems too easy to write.

Or Mike. No way Mike wouldn't have thought of that. I may be remembering wrong but wasn't Mike the one who sent Walt to bug the DEA office in the first place?
I obviously have nothing interesting to add to this conversation.

Jonathan Banks Q&A at NY Mag

How did your co-stars react to Mike’s death?
Aaron [Paul] was very upset. The crew on the day that scene takes place all wore black armbands. We all got along so well, and I say that coming from all these years of experience. I’ve never seen anything like it. It was great.

I hate Walt so much that I hope the cliffhanger at the end of Episode 8 is him getting shot in his stupid face. And then when they come back from the hiatus the final eight episodes are about how great everyone's lives are since he died: Jesse runs a successful summer camp for at-risk youth (Head Counselor: Badger), Skinny Pete is a famous pianist, Hank has rid ABQ of all crime except for Marie's shoplifting which everyone tolerates as long as she only steals purple things, Walt Jr. is a racecar driver sponsored by Denny's and eats breakfast for every meal, Todd owns a pet shop called "Todd's Tarantulas", Combo and Mike are two wise-cracking angels who perform good deeds. Walt sucks.

Oh god, this episode. The framing in the last few scenes was just so brilliant. The camera panning up from the roots of the trees as we see the branches come into view, holy crap. It's a beautiful visual metaphor for Mike's relationship with his grand daughter.

Why are Walt and Skylar still living together? I get that she doesn't want the kids there, but why do they have to live together to be criminals together?

There are cameras throughout the building, but probably not in the Manager's specific office. Managers do not like to be monitored, and they certainly have the authority to remove cameras. Nothing particularly important is stored there for them be extra-secure about it.

It just seems like they would be going out of their way to make it seem like a security camera for it not to be. Although people read into the camera moving when Jesse shot Gale and thought that Gale was still alive after the scene went black. Maybe I'm just doing that...

    Re: Breaking Bad, Anyone?

Anybody else pre-gaming with some blood pressure medication right now? This show will give me a stroke before all is said and done. Just a matter of time. Ding! Ding!! Ding!!!

Edited because I just remembered a pretty great Breaking Bad related story. I used to work for Sundance Channel, which is owned by the same company that owns AMC. Every year they have a big meeting where all the employees of all the channels get together at some swanky hotel and they have lots of boring business speeches that are sporadically punctuated by fun moments of "Hey, there's John Slattery!" or "Hey, free food and booze!"

Throughout the day, each channel head gave a long, fairly self-congratulatory presentation about his/her respective network, and perhaps not surprisingly, Charlie Collier, the head of AMC, consistently gave the best ones. Showing clips from your channel's various shows was an expected part of the proceedings, and since AMC had the biggest hit on the air, it was generally assumed that their presentation would be one long Mad Men clip reel set to sweeping music, like an Oscar montage or something. And they did stuff like that sometimes, but one year, Collier did his power point thing about all their ratings stuff and dry financial stuff, and then at the end, he said he was hoping to mix things up a bit and share the spotlight with his network's other critical hit. He then proceeded to show an audience of a couple thousand people, without any word of warning or context, the interrogation scene where Tio pisses and shits himself rather than rat Jesse out to Hank and Gomez. This was on a huge screen in a big ballroom of some fancy, uptight hotel, and it was the greatest thing I've ever witnessed in a corporate setting. The show's following, even within the company, wasn't nearly what it is now, so the vast majority of people had no idea about the blackly comic nature of the series, etc. Collier showed the scene, said "Thanks and have a great year" and then left the stage. It was literally and figuratively a totally boss thing to do.

I don't remember another show that made me this uneasy no matter what's happening on screen. I also don't quite understand they make the violence so flashy and coollooking and yet completely revolting at the same time.

I think the best thing I can say about this show is that it doesn't compare to anything else. It's something I've never seen.

I would have never guessed the season would end with Hank on the toilet reading a book.

WOW. I like the fact that Walt is going to get caught up after he's out, by something relatively innocent that he just didn't throw away. All the effort to tie up loose ends in this season, and not tying up an old one is going to be Walts downfall.
Question is, can they(DEA/Hank) prove it now that he's out.

I hate that there's a long gap til the next episode.
