I'm on Skyler's side at this point. I see her character as a parallel to Carmela Soprano. Remember all those episodes where Carmela would pretend to object to Tony's life but back down because she wanted the money and nice house that came from being married to a mobster? Skyler is making the opposite choice, which is what I always hoped Carmela would do.
Also, I love that she's now openly smoking in the house. Sure, you could just wait around for the lung cancer to come back. Or you could take some proactive steps to encourage it!

This article was referenced on the Long Shot and it is really interesting.

Anna Gunn mentioned this article on the official podcast:

The official podcast is great if you haven't checked it out - Vince Gilligan is on almost every one.

Newest episode should've ended with Walt comically tugging at his shirt collar and saying "ooh boy" in a silly, exaggerated voice.
Also: they're going to be in trouble when they learn that spider's been working for the DEA.

As the train was leaving, I totally thought the helper guy was going to die, but then he ended up killing someone else! You fooled me again, BB!

Holy fuckin shit, that was a great episode. I completely forgot about that kid on the dirtbike by the time the end came around.
Also, I love it whenever Bill Burr's character is on.
I want Walt to die so bad.
Also, I never realized how Bill Burr looks like a ginger Joel McHale.
I spent the first 40 minutes thinking this was a lesser episode (which is still better than almost anything ever). Then the train heist made my blood pressure go up a bazillion points, which made me think it was a pretty good episode. Then Lance shot that poor kid, and I literally covered my mouth to suppress an outburst for fear of waking my family. So once again, I found myself in "this is the greatest show ever!" territory. I'll never doubt you again, B-squared.
I genuinely cherish those moments in my life where a piece of art makes me just shut down and whisper "oh my fucking god" to myself over and over until the words lose meaning.
The train heist sequence was so nerve-wracking! Amazing that a show that has been so full of nailbiting, intense, and horrific scenes could ratchet up the tension so much for a train heist! I surmised that part of the reason is, they left the audience in the dark about the actual mechanics of it until it was happening. Most shows and movies have a part when the mastermind explains the plan to everyone else, as a way to make sure we know what's going to happen. The tension then comes from deviating from that plan. (Think of Michael's Italian restaurant murders in The Godfather.) But in this case, all we knew was "replace the methylamine with water" without any knowledge of how many levers, bolts, locks, and security tags were involved.
And the climax was perfectly timed. Just when the tension is released by them completing the heist... BAM!
Well, we were warned that this season was going to get dark.
Hey has anyone mentioned yet how this is a very quite good show?

Great episode!! Kind of what PPnJ said...the tension slowly rose and I too forgot about the kid- such a great cold open! Really enjoy the Lydia character - definitely seems like a chaotic element that will figure prominently in the mayhem that should start to ensue.
Not really a spoiler but,
Spoiler:

i feel like the return of skylar's chain smoking is setting up someone (walt?) poisoning her with the ricin he put in behind the light switch plate. there's a reason walt didn't just flush it and i think there's a reason (other than demonstrating skylar's stress) that she's smoking in the house now. i don't think it'll actually go down just like that, that he poisons her cigarette, but i think we'll get led in that direction before the show flips and does something unexpected instead.
Criminey, Breaking Bad! You get me all wound up rooting for Walt 'n the gang to pull of that train heist, and before I even get a chance to exult in their success, the potato-looking guy straight-up shoots a kid! It's like w/ Gus last season. You're pulling for him to wipe out the Cartel, then he gets back to ABQ and is all "I will kill your infant daughter." Vince Gilligan? More like Buzz Killigan!
