With the recent announcement that Gladiator will be portraying William Melvin Hicks in an upcoming biopic, a friend and I decided that the time had come to officially declare and begin to plan Bill Hicks Day, a fun-filled 24 hour celebration of the life and times of the dark poet. Plenty of classic Hicks, cigarettes, mushrooms, Elvis, and a twilight reading of the Bill of Rights are just some of the planned events we have in the early stages. Any other activity suggestions are greatly appreciated and welcomed, so feel free to post anything.
One problem. My friend and I have conflicting ideas as to which day should be declared Bill Hicks Day. I say the day should be held on December 16th, Hicks' birthday, as to focus more on the beginning of his time on earth, whereas my friend suggested February 26th, the day Bill passed away. We have discussed the issue a little and have asked our friends, and now I pose the question to you, the faithful AST community.
Which day is more appropriate when paying homage to a great person, the day of their birth or the day of their death?
