What the fuck does MAX in IMAX stand for then?
I was going to go see Star Trek(for the second time) at my local IMAX, which is a REAL IMAX screen and now I'm not, fuck the bullshit.
Saw the post on his website. That is fucked up... and the fact that IMAX willingly let the name be used like that. Did they recently change management over there at IMAX Corp.? Or possibly lose their minds?
you guys didn't know this? i remember bein kinda sad about it when i went to see men in black 2 in imax (7 years ago). i'm so sick of all the whining on facebook. THE WORLD IS UNFAIR, NERDS.
I like how most of the comments are angry at him "bragging" about how many twitter followers he has without knowing he is a comedian and not bragging. The internet was not invented for this.
It's not about the recognition that the world can be unfair, it's basic and blatant misrepresentation of the services you are providing. All they are doing is betting (hoping) the average moviegoer who doesn't follow anything film related (most everyone) will recognize the brand (IMAX) but not know what it's exactly supposed to deliver. Like buying a Ford car thinking you've bought something distinctly American when in fact if you know anything about cars, the parts that make up that vehicle come from everywhere, sometimes not even sub-assemblies are put togther in this country. Car companies don't lie directly about this fact but they do push the assumption of "american bred, american made". On the contrary, IMAX is blatantly telling you that you are getting an IMAX car and nothing different, this is the IMAX you've heard so much about, this is the creme de la creme of picture and sound, this is the best way to see a movie.
But you're not getting that, you're getting IMAX Lite. And the company won't even distinguish between their two "IMAX" formats? Bullshit. They're confusing their customers and selling them an experience they don't receive.
if you go in and it's not the screen you wanted you should come out and ask for your money back.
While I understand this argument as being the most correct thing that could've been done, it doesn't change the fact that what IMAX/AMC is doing is wrong.
One of the commenters put it this way. If you paid for a first class ticket to fly somewhere, and then got on the plane and it was all coach seats, would you get off the plane, demand a refund, and then wait until there's a plane going where you need to get with first class seats or would you fly where you need to go and demand that they reimburse you for the difference between a first class and coach ticket?
99% of people would do the latter, which is esentially what Aziz did...
Hey, check me out. I'm a ghost.
a movie ticket is not a car or an airplane ticket.
Things cannot be compared to other things.
Fuck you, poetry!
Hey, check me out. I'm a ghost.
the point is it's a $15 ticket. would you even fight a $15 parking ticket? and in this case you don't even have to pay. the energy for the collection of poor metaphors in this thread is worth more than $15. IT COULD POWER A STEAMBOAT IT COULD.
[edit: never mind I took too long to write this and with the other replies it makes little to no sense]
Obviously, the issue is not with one $15 ticket but the many being sold to people who think they are going to receive a service they are not.
I just found out that Brothers Bloom is written and directed by the Brick guy. I consider Brick one of the best movies of the aughts (I'll fight you all).
Just got back from Terminator: Salvation.
Spoiler:
I'm in.
I'm off to see Drag Me To Hell. Will report back.
