    aww, somebody's cranky.

after owning a macbook pro for only two years, the hard drive fried. so did the connector cable that connects the HD to the motherboard. i didn't panic too badly because all of my work documents were backed up and i did learn how to replace my own HD (even though i still needed the apple store to change the cable when the HD wouldn't install an OS). but wtf. 2 years for a hard drive? did i overheat my laptop keeping it in a hard case all the time? or is this a common occurrence?

Anyone else's iPhone 4S randomly shut off and have to be rebooted with the top button and bottom button? This happens maybe 2x a week.

I use a home made version of these. Just get 3-4 felt pads and stick them together in a little tower. Then do it again. Then put them under the back of your laptop.

Harddrives are just prone to failure due to their mechanical nature. In laptops moreso. They just get jostled around a lot more. I had a 1TB external drive that I was using for TimeMachine backups and that barely lasted a year. I can't wait until everything shifts ofter to SSD once and for all.

You can take it to the Apple Store but they will probably just restore the software. So, my suggestion is for you to restore the software yourself (by plugging into iTunes and clicking Restore) and if it still keeps happening, go to the Apple Store and tell them you tried restoring the software but that didn't work. Chances are, they'll just give you a new one and you'll be on your way.

This is pretty cool. Now I just have to wait until someone makes a microSD card bigger than 64gb.
    I'm in.

My iphone power button stopped depressing for several months, leading me to think it was broken (because apparently it's a common issue) and now this weekend, it sorted itself out and decided to unstick.

I hope it lasts a month so I can try to get some money back from their recycling program.

Welp, the iPhone won't turn on or charge now. To the Apple store I guess.

Take it in if it does not work. They can fix it. I had the same problem. It is sometimes a software issue. (They'll do a full restore.) Other times it's a hardware issue. (They'll swap it out or clean it.) As long as there is no evidence of water damage they should fix it.

    This happened to me!
I took my phone in to the Apple store because the mic was broken and they replaced the phone with a new one that randomly shuts off all the time. More than 2X a week.
Someone told me it's the new OS acting up, but I don't know.

I'm going to restore soon and if that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to deal with another hour or two at the mall.

It looks like they're going to release new iMacs along with the new iPhone. No retina display, but supposedly a clearer screen. Some crazy glass laminating process or something.

Hopefully the screen won't be a goddamn mirror like the one I'm working on now.

I wanted my itunes artwork to be fixed so I restored my phone thinking I could just bring it back with my iCloud backup but that didn't really work and I guess I lost all my videos I hadn't sync'd. Is there any way to get them back?

    Re: Apple talk

Well, if you purchased them from iTunes you can just redownload them. If you got them from somewhere else I don't know.

Why didn't the iCloud backup work? That's the point of the damn thing right?

    Re: Apple talk

I think I did everything wrong, like restoring from a different computer that wasn't set up the same and naming the phone the same thing which might have replaced the actual backup with nothing.

And nathan, I'm talking about videos of my kids, not tv shows.

Okay, so, then, I'm so sorry to say it, but those are gone forever. Unless those videos all went into the cloud at some point, they are gone.

Have you checked the Apple T&Cs? You might not.
