Anyone listening to Uhh Yeah Dude?

Uhh Yeah Dude is a podcast that started in February of 2006. I posted about it in the 'good comedy podcasts' thread on the old board. It's fantastic. Ricky Gervais has shown interest by calling their voicemail (888-842-2357) and Matthew Robinson, the codirector of This Side Of The Truth, filmed their 100th episode. Check it out on iTunes under comedy podcasts.
I normally wouldn't start a thread but I think this show is well deserving of one.

If I knew how to add links on this board, I totally would. http://www.uhhyeahdude.com

So, I listen to Uhh Yeah Dude every week. I searched this website to find something about this podcast on here. This was it, and I couldn't believe it.

So I want to offer up a brief review of UYD, through the eyes of one midwesterner that can't stand that Cali attitude. Then I will tell you why it is the best podcast, and you should listen because it will make you smarter.

When I first found UYD last year, I was sceptical. I listened to a few eps, and wasn't totally sold. Jonathan and Seth have a "hipness" that I found annoying, then realized that it was perfect for podcasting. See, they hate on everything, and they don't take exception too making fun of themselves, which I think is most important to understanding the show. Jonathan is a struggling musician and Seth is a failed actor. They are full of venom for the rest of humanity which I find charming now.

Another thing about the show is they are not leaning on celebrity guests, they have never even had one. They are just two smart dudes discussing America's problems.

And the best thing is they are not comedians. Face it, we all pretty much sound alike. They don't sound like that, which makes the show that much better.

To give you an idea about what else I like, for comparison, here are my top 5 podcasts:

Don't know whether this should get its own thread in Comedy or Show Listings, but is anyone else going to their Largo Show on February 2nd? I'm pretty amped; the Broad Stage show a year or so ago was great and reports from the Neptune on Friday sound awesome.

I can't believe more people don't talk about this podcast, especially LA locals.

People too rarely mention the framework of the show, which is like the best part of the free weekly: the weird news and the police blotter. Seth collects a lot of interesting stories that over time paint a pretty fascinating picture of our ongoing technopocalypse. Sometimes he'll do games and things like having Jonathan guess whether a name belongs to a race horse or a strain of medical marijuana. He watches a LOT of television and talks about some of that. They react to all of this with a disbelief, amusement and disappointment (and yes, anger) I find highly appropriate. Give yourself a few episodes to find the rhythm, the approach to riffing is different from a comic and there's a lot of vernacular and in-jokes. It's a pretty great show and their success is an awesome example of the internet being kickass.

    UYD: Stop, drop and listen.
