May be relocating to this gem of the southwest for work. Anyone have the scoop of places to see/things to do/spots to eat? Beyond a self-made Breaking Bad walking tour, I'll be flying blind here. Is there a comedy community a'tall? Also, recommendations of spots to live that are cheap/not too murdery would be cool.
THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT ALBUQUERQUE.
The only reason I'd ever go back to that place is for the hot air balloon festival.
What I'm saying is, good luck... I hope you find more redeemable qualities in that town than I did the couple days I was there.
I was there in October of last year...and I have to agree with Liezl. For me the most annoying part was how dry it was out there. I don't think I could live in a climate like that. But also there doesn't seem to be a very good arts/culture scene out there. A lot of Indian Casinos...a lot of bars.
I will say though that for me it has the best Mexican food outside of San Diego County that I've been able to find outside of Mexico itself.

Unless I missed something, downtown Albequerque is 3 square blocks.
Granted, I'm coming to this WAY late, but Albuquerque ain't so bad. Sure, some people defending it might use the term "ain't," but the food is good, our sunsets are pretty, and we're getting together a pretty alright lil' comedy scene.
