    The World's End

Ok, this is ridiculously early to be starting this thread, but I just saw this picture that Edgar Wright tweeted and I'm excited:

    From Wikipedia:

The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (also known as the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy) is a series of films directed by Edgar Wright, written by Simon Pegg and Wright, and starring Pegg and Nick Frost in leading roles.

The first two films in the series are Shaun of the Dead (2004), "a romantic comedy with zombies", and Hot Fuzz (2007), a buddy cop action/comedy film. A third film, provisionally titled The World's End, is planned for the future.

Each film in the trilogy is connected to a Cornetto ice cream flavor - both of the films released to date feature scenes in which one of the main characters purchases a Cornetto of the appropriate flavor. Shaun of the Dead features a red strawberry Cornetto, Hot Fuzz includes a blue Classic flavor, and The World's End is due to feature a green mint chocolate chip ice-cream. The use of the three flavors/colors of Cornetto is a reference to Krzysztof Kieślowski's Three Colours film trilogy.

So Ok, we can use this thread to speculate on what this third movie might be about. Red = blood for Shaun of the Dead, and blue = cop uniform for Hot Fuzz, so green would = aliens? I would say almost definitely aliens, if Pegg and Frost hadn't just done "Paul".
Maybe this will be a different kind of an alien movie, like a "War of the Worlds" type, about an alien invasion.

    Re: The World's End

I couldn't be more excited about this. So glad to see it's finally moving forward. Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are among my favorite movies. Hell, so is Scott Pilgrim.

I've long speculated that the only two possibilities of genre are a sci-fi flick or a disaster movie. I'd really rather them do a sci-fi flick since that seems to be a shared passion of theirs (evident in Spaced) but Pegg and Frost did just do Paul. Who knows? I'm down for whatever they throw at me.

EXCLUSIVE: Working Title and Edgar Wright have set a September start date for The World’s End, the last in a trilogy of comedies that started with Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz. Wright, who’ll direct, wrote the script with Simon Pegg. Once again, Pegg stars with Nick Frost. Universal Pictures hasn’t yet green lit the film, but is expected to after the modestly budgeted pair of comedies grossed $108 million worldwide between them. The plan is for The World’s End to reach theaters in spring 2013.

The logline: 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

The film is produced by Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, and Nira Park of Big Talk Productions. Wright, who last directed Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, is separately adapting the series The Night Stalker for Disney as a star vehicle for Johnny Depp. Wright’s repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group and Anonymous Content.

    Re: The World's End

    From Entertainment Weekly:

The World’s End, long-awaited cinema reunion of director Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), officially has a greenlight, Universal Pictures announced today. Costarring regular collaborator Nick Frost, and co-written by Wright and Pegg, the film will follow five old friends who attempt to re-create a heroic pub crawl they attempted 20 years previous, which ends at a pub called The World’s End. But as the title implies, the fate of humankind also hangs in the balance.

Universal also released a teaser poster for the film, evoking the pub crawl of the plot. Check it out below:

Can't wait for this. I'm curious to see who they get to fill out the rest of the 5 main friends as well, I'd love for it to be people like Dylan Moran, Bill Bailey and Kevin Eldon. I mean, if you're doing a movie about a pub crawl, how could you not have Dylan Moran in it?

So excited about this; everything Pegg and Wright have done together has been top notch; from Spaced to Hot Fuzz, great to have the team back together. (And yes, I loved Wright's 'Scott Pilgrim' and Pegg and Frost's 'Paul' too!)

Ideal fill out for the rest of the friends:
    Dylan Moran
    Mark Heap (Brian from "Spaced")
    Paddy Considine

    Re: The World's End

Oh, shit, we NEED Mark Heap as part of the main cast.

These are still my favorite movies in the world, and I've been waiting ever-so-patiently for this one. Obviously psyched to see it looming on the horizon so clearly.

Heap was supposed to be in Shaun and Hot Fuzz but he couldn't for whatever reason, so it'd be about damn time.

The fifth guy is Eddie Marsan who played Lestrade in the two new Sherlock Holmes movies.

    Re: The World's End

Am I the only one who thinks that Pegg, Frost and Bill Bailey (especially) should have been a part of the dwarf company in "The Hobbit"?

And do I get any points for correctly guessing that Paddy Considine would be in the group of friends?

Nothing but high expectations for this. The trailer's better than most movies, so maybe it doesn't matter.
