Will Franken in "I'll Be Your Neck" at the Purple Onion
140 Columbus Avenue, San Francisco
Saturday, November 20th
(2 shows) 8pm and 10pm
"I'll Be Your Neck" is a multi-character, single-performer, ultra-hilarious performance from the Bay Area's most original comedic talent, Will Franken (willfranken.com). The title comes from one of Will's numerous alter egos, New Jersey-born mobster Petey Pepper, admonishing a girl that a beautiful woman such as herself is too precious to carry her own head. "What kind of man would make you carry your own head? I'll be your neck, baby. . ." Just let Will tell you about it:
WILL "Hi, everybody, this is comedian/satirist/absurdist/one-man show Will Franken here. [tosses hair like a woman in a 1980s shampoo commercial] Gosh, I hope you'll come check out my new material at the Purple Onion. I've got two very special shows planned on November 20th at my favorite club in the whole city (if not the whole country). Two shows, 8pm and 10pm. Only $20.
"I've added some extremely personal dimensions to my shows. All my characters are drawn from my real-life experience; such as a gum-cracking, ex-stripper Mexican lady from the local Catholic parish and a John Goodman from Big Lebowski lookalike (and soundalike) who served as my chauffeur to Bev Mo! and Burger King for nearly 8 months as I sought to wipe myself out of existence with fast food and Seagram's 7. It's the same patented Will Franken absurdity and virtuosity, coupled with a personal (and painfully funny) narrative thread.
