Firefox keeps warning me to visit aspecialthing.com because of a virus/worm/trojan horse/malware/whatever thingamajig. Anybody else getting this?
Is Firefox being overly cautious, or is it something to actually worry about?

Matt posted about it over on the Site Suggestions thread, they're getting it sorted, hopefully by next week. Something about some people being redirected to that shortened URL from Google.

that reminds me. when are we getting an ast app?
No, it's an issue for me, too, on a desktop using Safari. So I've been forced to use Explorer, which logs me out of AST whenever I go to another page.

I've been having log-in hassles for like, a week now. Hopefully this all gets fixed soon.
In Safari go to Preferences then the Security tab and uncheck Warn when visiting fraudulent sites...

I've had the url2short redirect happen a few times, and I've never tried to access the site from a mobile device or with Safari. It's been a while since I last had it, though.
Thanks, Batman! That was a real help.
Batman The Horse is right!
I've had this problem happen on my work PC using Chrome when I type the URL in. It auto-completes the URL but I'm not doing a Google search. Not sure if this helps or makes the issue more confusing.
The thing is Firefox blocks aspecialthing.com for me entirely. When I click on the link in my bookmarks or type it in manually, my browser takes me to a page that basically says "Click here if you want to proceed but you're on your own, dude, don't fucking blame us if your computer catches some shit." I've never had the url2short thing.
Oh well, I'll just keep visiting the forum from work.
If you want to get rid of the splash page in Chrome, go to settings>show advanced settings>privacy>uncheck 'enable phishing and malware protection'
Naw I'm cool but justin one is definitely suspect.
You guys are talking about two different things:
A while back, the site was hacked or infected or whatever, which manifested in Google searches of AST redirecting to a url2short link to some Russian bullshit. This didn't affect site regulars, only people who Googled something, then tried to click an aspecialthing.com link.
More recently (this past week), as a result of the above, Google flagged our site as hazardous, which prompts browsers to display some form of warning message (these can be disabled, as described in posts above). We have addressed the problem and just today requested a review of the site to confirm that we have properly cleared the site of the problem. Hopefully we pass this test, and then Google will unflag us, and the warning messages will stop appearing.
