I wonder why Todd (and Moshe Kasher, who also has a stand-up special out today) didn't go the Louis CK "make a website and release it for $5" route. Not everybody in the world has a subscription to Netflix, and they could have made a lot more money if they had made the specials more widely available.

Splitsider's article about this even mentions that Netflix "interrupts every two minutes to buffer". Well, screw that. I'm not paying money to put up with buffering.

I know Bill Burr released his latest special exclusively through Netflix last August. Then about a month or so later he did it Louis' way, and released it through his website. Maybe Todd Glass and Moshe Kasher will be doing something similar?

I'm not sure what type of connection Splitsider is using, but I've never had an issue with Netflix buffering (especially not every two minutes). I agree in general about Netflix, though. I cancelled my streaming account a week ago because I wasn't watching many movies, so I just switched back to DVD/Blu-ray only. A week later and I'm sign up for streaming again for this. Damn you, Todd Glass!

I know Todd said he was fronting the money for the special and then going to shop it around. Perhaps after the big names didn't pick it up (Comedy Central) it felt too risky to sell independently. If he made his money back and then some from Netflix, good on him. The Louie model works for people like Louie, Aziz, and Jim Gaffigan because they're some of the biggest names at the moment. Todd is very niche and lesser known, so I don't know if he would've had as much success with that model.

Also just ordered my grilled cheese Todd Glass Show t-shirt. Super duper excited.

I had to pause today's show to say that the idea of child Todd Glass being upset that he didn't get soft serve ice cream makes SO MUCH sense. If Todd's life were a movie that would be one of those details that I would praise the writers for getting right.
