Is it my imagination, or are there not a lot of very promising-looking comedies coming out this summer? There's pretty much "The Watch" in July and "The Campaign" in August and that's about it. August is traditionally a pretty good month for comedies, if you think back to August 2008 there was "Pineapple Express", "Step Brothers", and "Tropic Thunder" all in the same month.

Oh well, at least there is "That's My Boy", "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World", and "Ted" to look forward to this month (How you feel about Adam Sandler may affect how much you consider "That's My Boy" a promising-looking comedy)

Ted looks promising. If that promise is to be not very good.

Not sure how much you're kidding, but I try to leave kid's movies off these lists.
And that Seth Rogen movie looks like more of a starring vehicle for the two actresses in it, doesn't really look like something people here would be that interested in.

Yes, I was kidding about the cartoons, but I like Rogen movies, even when he has a small part.

I like Adam Sandler. I haven't loved everything he has done in the last few years but I still feel like he has good stuff left in him. And I feel like this maybe could have been one of those good things if he didn't use that god damn voice.

Totally Biased w/ W. Kamau Bell premiere on FX was great. I also saw Celeste & Jesse Forever today and it is a charming art-house rom-com with a cool soundtrack. Touching and funny, fans of Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg should dig it.

Kevin Hart is hosting this year's Video Music Awards; I remember he was sort of an unofficial host last year when they really didn't have a host:

Robert Smigel and Peter Baynham are the credited writers on the screenplay. Smigel is also credited as an executive producer.
