    South Park is still on

Anyone watch the season whatever premiere? "The China Problem"

For me it's representative of the lazier, later-era episodes that are really under-written. It didn't help that I think the negative response to IJKotCS was severely overblown and almost completely without merit. But I also thought the rape scenes were just not funny, but rather disturbing.

I only caught the last fifteen minutes(I came in right in the middle of the "The Accused" parody, which I wasn't that keen on). They've already lambasted Lucas and Spielberg before, did this subject matter really need to be revisited? I did think the overreaction to the movie was kind of addressed by Butters' comment at the end.

This one was a stinker, but I've really liked the last few seasons of SP.

Yeah totally lazy. "Let's combine these two current pop culture phenomena." SP has done everything in this episode better in some earlier episode. The show's gotten pretty lazy recently but i'm still glad it's on for those occasional gems like "Beeel Beleeecheck"

Yeah, except, it's Butters. I think that's what they were going for, but they could have put it in the mouth of a less retarded character.

Hmmm...I actually thought that the Indiana Jones stuff was pretty funny. Then again, I hated Crystal Skull. The Chinese stuff though, not so funny.

I typically think south park kinda stinks when it's on TV, but for some reason I always get the DVD and I always have a MUCH better time with it when I watch a whole disc of it in a night. Anybody else have this experience?

note: I didn't watch this last night! I'm just sayin

Interesting theory. 1 ep of SP = a single song off of Dark Side of The Moon. By itself it's just "meh," but when heard in context w/the rest of the album it's all "Ahhhhhhhhh, THIS MAKES SENSE!!"

Note - I've never listened to Dark Side of the Moon.

Butters is one of the least "retarded" characters, he's one of the most reasonable characters except that he's so easily influenced by cartman.
Cartman's voice used to be so much better.

OK i just watched the episode. First of all really the Olympics and Indiana Jones, I am shocked they didn't shoe horn an Ironman joke in. these topics are OLD. Now ok ok ok i get it they weren't on the air when these events occurred but it just felt to much like they were trying to do house cleaning. But still.

That being said the Dick shooting stuff was awesome

There's nothing over-blown about how bad Crystal Skull was. It's just a fact.

If "Raiders" didn't just happen to be one of the best films of all time, then yeah...maybe the reaction wouldn't be so justified.

I didn't see SP...I did see Shia swing with monkeys.

I thought it was awesome. They've never disappointed me. At least they tell it like it is. But I still wonder how they get some of that shit on the air.

The Chinese story was kinda lazy, but the Indy story was exactly right. To an upper middle class movie nerd with no personal experience with sexual assault, rape is the perfect metaphor for what that movie was.

the monkeys was getting pinned down, the alien shit was when the rape started*.

*i/my memory of the franchise wasn't raped by this movie, but it certainly wasn't good.
