    Sit Down, Shut Up

    From the Hollywood Reporter:

Mitch Hurwitz is returning to CBS with a comedy about a family that "loves too much."

"American Pie" star Jason Biggs is in final negotiations to topline the untitled hybrid project, which has received a put pilot commitment from the network and an order for six additional scripts.

Sony Pictures TV, where "Arrested Development" creator Hurwitz is based, is producing with CBS Paramount Network TV, which has a deal with Biggs.

The comedy revolves around adult siblings and their parents who are over-involved in one another's lives.

Hurwitz is co-writing the script with "Arrested" scribe James Vallely. Hurwitz, Biggs and Vallely will exec produce the project with Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, Hurwitz's partners at their Sony TV-based company, Tantamount.

The project marks a reunion with CBS for Hurwitz and Biggs. Hurwitz co-created/exec produced the CBS comedy "The Ellen Show" before conceiving the Emmy-winning Fox comedy "Arrested," which revolved around the dysfunctional Bluth clan.

After being pursued by the networks for years, Biggs starred in the CBS/CBS Par comedy pilot "I'm in Hell" this past development season.

Hurwitz, whose animated comedy "Sit Down, Shut Up" is slated for a midseason launch on Fox, is repped by CAA. Biggs, who will next be seen in the feature comedy "My Best Friend's Girl," is repped by CAA and Management 360.

Re: New Mitch Hurwitz sitcom for CBS

Jason Biggs is one of those actors that is in a bunch of funny movies, but isn't actually funny himself. He's always surrounded by funny people, and he's just there to be the normal one. Same with Justin Long

While I agree with you, when "Arrested Development" first started, I don't think anyone thought of Jason Bateman as "Mr. Comedy", and he turned out to be great on that show.
This could be the show that makes us all fall in love with Jason Biggs.
    (Or not).

Looks like CBS is looking for it's Raymond replacement.

Also Jason Bateman was great in "It's Your Move" and that sex-ed tape he did with his sister.

You said what I was gonna say, Brasky. Bateman was a total surprise and it made me a fan.

Also, Justin Long was great in Idiocracy.

I do love Jason Bateman, but he's been a funny character in other stuff too though (he was hilarious in smokin' aces), but I think most of them were after Arrested Development started. Bateman is at least charming when he's not funny, and I don't know that that's true for Biggs

What's the deal with Sit Down, Shut Up? I don't remember hearing about any resolution for the writers walking out. Did they come back? Were they replaced?

I like Justin long and will post my vote in the funny category.

Also I remember a 'head on' joke being mentioned on an internet radio program in a show by Mitch. Is this it?

I always thought Jason Biggs had great comic timing

I should've phrased it better: Justin Long is not funny as a MAIN character, Jason Biggs is not funny at all.

Maria Bamford sent this out today on her myspace bulletin:

Well, I’ve got some bad news. I’ve been fired off the super-fantastic show “SIT DOWN SHUT UP” slated for release by Fox this fall. OY. It was a fantastic experience and Mitch Hurwitz was super super great and super super nice and I guess one of the Big Wigs no likee the voce de Maria Bamforia and so, dénouement. I felt SADD and MADD, but then realized that it just means that something better is going to happen! Like a wonderful life that’s already happening! I also got to meet the Fonz Henry Winkler who gave me 2 kisses on the cheeks- which I’m now giving to my family, I got to meet Cheri Oteri who is hilarious and supa nize AND I got a basically FREE nerf “Stewie” football (from Family Guy). And, about 6 diet cokes. So, I guess somebody is still winning.

    Sit Down, Shut Up

Has anyone else seen the preview to Mitch Hurwitz's new cartoon, Sit Down, Shut Up? I think it looks hilarious. I was wondering what everybody else thinks. That and I'm tired of talking about how Michael Cera hasn't signed on for the Arrested Development movie.

    Re: Sit Down, Shut Up

That looks pretty good. I didn't even realize the animation thing until they pointed it out. That's pretty cool. I kinda wish it was live action, though...

Question: the guy who says "What kind of pay raise does that have"...his voice sounds really familiar, but I can't exactly place it. The IMDB page doesn't really help, as the only person I think it could be is Tom Kenny, but it didn't really sound like him.
    things are iffy.
