Re: Scott Aukerman will start Comedy Bang Bang on the Web

Of course commercials are annoying. They are annoying on TV and hulu and everything else. But, it allows, for the most part, people we like to keep doing things we like. Though, I would like to think that I and others would pay a subscription fee for an all-access pass to earwolf or nerdist networks. So far, Jeff and Scott have decided they would rather have ads than charge. Maybe that will change although I would think that just as many people will complain about paying money to hear a previously free podcast. I am pretty sure NNF lost a decent amount of listeners when they switched.

I have not complained about the ads on new episodes. But I'm listening to an episode from 2009, and the Pepsi Next ad is actually covering up part of the show. I think that's a valid thing to object to.

I actually agree. It is totally valid. I was just pointing out that the rubber is going to meet the road, even in the archives, and we may have to choose our preferred annoyance.

I don't delete podcasts, so I still have the original files sans Pepsi Next.

Why wouldn't the commercials just be dropped in right before or after a song? Are there timestamp requirements?

They probably didn't want to spend the time listening to every single episode, looking for ideal spots to put the commercials. Which is actually pretty reasonable, since there are hundreds of episodes.

I love the commercials. I am in a place right now where I can literally not afford to pay money for anything but bills and food and if they start charging I will no longer be able to listen. So, please, Scott, if you are going to go this route, please wait until I am in a better place in life.

When Rodney Og told his nickname, I just so happened to be eating breakfast. I almost choked on a piece of watermelon and died. Good thing I work in a hospital.

Rod Og is an amazing contribution to society.

Also, I pictured a plateful of bacon and eggs shaped watermelon.

I thought Jerrod Carmichael was a great first time guest. Also, that's the second time Scott made the circus in Washington joke, and it is never not funny.

New No-No! If you dislike Paul Rust's New No-Nos, then guess what friend? You can avoid listening to them and I'll even recommend some other things to listen to!

I said "new no-no!" to myself yesterday for no reason. It's instantaneously addictive.

I know everyone will be saying this, but even if you guys thought the results were boring, I'd still like to hear the complete "Mr. Blow" podcasts. I guess they "burned the tapes" though. But as someone who has listened to the Mr. Show commentaries countless times, I think the fans would enjoy hearing them even if you thought they didn't turn out so great.

Re: Scott Aukerman will start Comedy Bang Bang on the Web

Agreed, Brasky. Perhaps the "Mr. Blow" concept could work with an outside host who could direct the conversation a bit more. It would be interesting to hear from the writers and others who are not as prominent. I think it is easy to fall into a familiar rapport that is not good radio when around old colleagues and friends. In fact, Scott does a good job of keeping things on track by having defined segments and games that find the interesting or the funny. I like hearing him talk to Bob because he can get a real response about SNL or Mr. Show or Breaking Bad that isn't designed simply to promote the show. Anyway, I vote that the idea be carried on in a new format that does not have David Cross being annoyed for having to show up every week.

Fuck, even if they did a podcast twice a year with just written bits like the ones they played on this episode, that would be AMAZING. Those were so funny, so well-done.

I second this. Two things made me spit out my coffee today. The first being Matt Besser saying "How I Met Your Son" and the second was the title of the song being "You say you love me (But I know that you mean it)"
