Downey definitely wrote that opening sketch. Also, not to kill the joke, but one of the reasons Obama is currently leading in Ohio is it's actually one of the states where the unemployment rate is lower than when Obama took office. EDIT: Kate's woman who works at The Apple Store was the only part of this sketch that made me L O L.
I think Cecily's bit was the highlight of the episode, and the Replacement Refs thing. I also just laugh at anything Kenan does at this point. I really hated him his first couple seasons, but he's one of my favorites now.
Yeah, the apple store joke was actually one that I was completing the punchline of in my head before they did it (and don't take this as me bragging how clever I am, it must have been a fairly obvious joke for me to be that ahead of them), but I still laughed at Kate's delivery of it. Also the way she said "....I sell apples!" after the joke was already over (stone-faced Obama: "Yes, of course you do"). I liked that they did a sketch that wasn't completely uncritical of Obama, even though Seth (I'm sure) still felt the need to add the "Yeah, but Romney would be worse, we can all agree on that, right?" bit at the end.
I think we've got a pretty good idea of what Tim Robinson and Cecily Strong are like, performing-wise...Robinson specializes in rubes and various weirdos and Cecily seems to be more of a character-type actress who does solo monologue-type pieces. Aidy Bryant doesn't seem to be getting much screen time yet. I wonder if they will let her develop an original character that doesn't hinge on her weight as a premise.
Speaking of rubes and various weirdos, I wonder if Bill Hader left his meth-guy wig on while he was waiting to go on as crazy-murderer-guy in the refs sketch.

Oh all in a thread that's completely not this one? Better keep posting about it in here!!
This is why we should maybe still have a "Things You Didn't Post" thread
I would imagine by now it's not just one person, but a whole group of people. And they're actually just expressing their opinion about your posts.
Is there a place that lists up-to-date per-sketch credits? Like, who wrote which sketch? Yall always seem to know and I feel dumb.
This is delightful

I just got caught up with last weeks Weekend Update Thursday, and I must say, the "guy who didn't know there were going to be balloons" made me very, very happy.
I think most people just assume - Downey's really the only guy who writes with a conservative bent, hence, he probably wrote the Obama sketch(I think there was even a stink a couple of months ago about one of his Obama sketches getting cut). So, conservative = Downey. A few years ago - a super weird sketch featuring Ferrell = McKay. I'm sure people who follow the show more closely are familiar with the hallmarks of some of the other writers as well.
Berliner, please stop.
Can I be made a moderator for 5 minutes so I can do what everyone wants to be done? And by that I mean prune & delete all SNL related posts from this thread.
Will Smith. Let. It. Go.
New SNL Idea: Bobby Moynihan as the "Let It Go" Guy! Shows up on Weekend Update freaking out about nothing and he won't shut the fuck up about it.
Neil Casey - get on this!
