this sucks. i was really excited about the direction he was moving creatively now that he felt welcome in the alt comedy community and could talk about his real past rather than play a character.

    very sad.

Yeah, I found out about him when he was on Last Comic Standing. I then got his album when it came out, and loved his WTF interview. I was extremely interested in what he was going to do, and how his comedy was going to grow. I just loved his attitude. This came out of left field.

    RIP, man.......

So sad... I feel like this guy had a lot more to offer. Such a funny, honest stand-up and a real inspiration.

Weak. I've never felt like I misjudged someone more than I did after listening to his WTF interview. He seemed like a totally genuine, sweetheart of a guy that got dealt one of the all time shitty hands in the history of life, and yet still managed to keep his sense of humor despite everything.

    RIP

He had an original comedic perspective, he was a guy that I didn't think had even hit his stride. The world has been robbed of a good one. Listen to his comedy, he was a very funny guy.

Same with me. I saw him on Last Comic Standing and I wasn't into him, but after listening to that interview, I did a complete 180.

And actually, the things he said in that interview about how, if you want to be happy you should help others, really inspired me to make a major change in my life. I felt like, if Mike D could find some happiness after all he'd been through, what was I complaining about?

    Man, what shitty, shitty news.

Way too soon. What a blow. My condolences to those who knew him.

So sad. Loved his "OK Karma" album. There was a long future of me laughing at his jokes. So sad.

I was rooting for him to win LCS and was so happy with the exposure that was giving him, and his success in NY lately. His WTF episode was wonderful, but he was also on one of the live WTFs where he was ridiculously gutbustingly funny. What terrible news. RIP.

I misjudged him too after LCS, and after listening to WTF I was shocked to discover he was the guy that told that story about the bike ride with his wife on the moth. That guy I adored. What a sad sad loss.

Did he perform with Eugene's tour last night? I believe he was on the bill for Union Hall. Very sad.

this is sad to hear. DeStefano was a funny guy. It seemed like he was a good guy, drawing attention to addiction and AIDS like he did in WTF.

I always loved Mike D. He even called me to thank me about the review I did for him at cringehumor.net (where I heard about him back in 08). Will miss him. Here's one of my favorite bits of his, especially the "Tea with Mike D."
