Right before this, at 10 PM, Comedy Central will be premiering Patton Oswalt's "Finest Hour" (I believe it's also coming out on DVD the following week)

It's a shame this will be edited down to 42-44 minutes, only because it was so good and about twice as long live.

Oh, I meant Finest Hour is coming out on DVD the following week...I don't know why it wasn't released simultaneously with the CD, unless it's some kind of contractual deal with Comedy Central.
I don't know if there will be a DVD release of Paul's special.

NEW YORK, April 3, 2012 – Paul F. Tompkins returns to COMEDY CENTRAL in the world premiere of his original one-hour stand-up special, “Paul F. Tompkins: Laboring Under Delusions,” debuting Saturday, April 21 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Before achieving success as a comedian, actor, and writer, Tompkins toiled in the ranks of the common working man, and he shares some of his incredible experiences in this all-new special. Using his trademark storytelling style, Tompkins recounts his stint as a disgruntled hat salesman, his evolution into a sticky-fingered video store clerk, and how hosting VH1’s “Best Week Ever” led to inadvertently donning women’s undergarments. With his fist raised high, Tompkins delivers a rousing hour of comedy to a raucous audience at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA.

The “Paul F. Tompkins: Laboring Under Delusions” extended and uncensored DVD with 30 minutes of material not seen in broadcast will be released on April 24 by COMEDY CENTRAL Home Entertainment. The bonus features include: “Director’s Commentary by a Director,” a series of musings on the full special from Tompkins, impersonating a famous director; an additional 16 minutes of show in the form of “Danny Boy Encore;” and “The Pod F. Tompkast: Episode 16 – Behind the Scenes,” featuring insights into the voicing of The Great Undiscovered Project: Part 16 and podcast guest Gillian Jacobs.

Great special! Don't want to spoil any of them, but all of his stories were really funny. Did anyone else watch it in the screening room yet, though? It kept jumping to the next segment early and I would have to rewind back to watch the end of the last one. I was confused by how abruptly all of his stories were ending until I figured out the glitch.

Jeeeeeesus, you guys weren't kidding about their video player. It must've skipped forward 20 times just during PFT's last bit. It was like:

"So then I said--thank you, goodnight!" (rewind)
"--then I said--thank you, goodnight!" (rewind)
"So I kicked the door in and--thank you, goodnight!" (rewind)
"--the door in and--thank you, goodnight!"

In the words of Pete Holmes, "Really?!"

Fortunately though, Paul's special was really excellent stuff. I'm looking forward to rewinding Patton 20 times.

Maybe it's intentional so that only the completely obsessed comedy nerds like us will bother to put up with it when the special is coming out in less than three weeks anyway. The casual fan isn't going to use this press screening loophole when it's so annoying. Plus they probably made it that way because they secretly hate the press.
