    Re: Patton Oswalt Talk

    Greetings, my fellow Patton fans!

Just wanted to let all of you know that Patton did a "Conan" remote piece in his hometown of Burbank that will be airing tonight. I had the great pleasure of being there for the shoot and Patton was brilliant as usual. Grumpus showed up for a wonderful cameo, too.

I just wish we had enough time to include all the great footage. We had to trim out some things I really loved. I hope you enjoy it!

    Brian

Thank God for DVR. Saved me again.

Sidenote: why do agnostics feel the urge to capitalize God?

Because you're still referring to a name, i.e. you capitalize the names of fictional characters.

Not to hijack the thread. I look forward to seeing the piece (I forgot to watch).

That remote was really great. I especially liked Paton's holiday gift ideas from the "serial killer art store"

Found this Big Fan interview at Sundance while looking for the Conan thing.

Now this is instant classic Patton: He interviews the director of Troll 2. During an interview with him, he stops it being about himself, and literally takes the mike and turns the interview around. Also from Sundance.

This is probably a long shot, but does anybody have an extra ticket to Patton's DVD taping in DC? I will give you money/sexual favors/both. PM me...

Did you guys see that the Rolling Stone film critic called Patton "superb" in Rob Siegel's soon-to-be-released movie "Big Fan"? That doesn't surprise me one bit, and I can't wait to see the movie.

This picture is making more and more anxious as the days pass. I want to see it so f-ing bad. On his blog, Patton posted a still shot of the opening titles and THAT shit even excited me.

Any word of distribution and/or release date? Any New York screenings? Tribeca Film Festival perhaps?

    P.S. Calm down, Billy

Patton was on The Best Show on Tuesday and said they're still having trouble finding distribution.

edit: I was responding to BillyNord then ILIS posted in the middle of it and I didn't get the 'someone posted while you were responding' warning.

Mr. Oswalt was on The Mike O'meara Show (radio) out of DC on February 27th. He is on multiple segments. He often credits Mike O'meara as well as Mike's former co-host Don Geronimo as an early comedy inspiration and a bright light of sorts growing up in the DC area. The segments are available for download at:

As an added bonus, Maria Bamford joins in for the last few segments (including one solo) that are awesome.

    Re: Patton Oswalt Talk

From the LA Times' "Daily Dish":

'Ratatouille' comes out: A lecture for friends of Remy at UCLA

"Ratatouille" as the story of a homosexual coming out? I think I get it, sort of. I know the subtext of "The Wizard of Oz," and like Dorothy, Remy -- the cuisinier-protagonist of "Ratatouille" -- is a misunderstood adolescent who embarks on a journey of self-discovery....

Laure Murat of the UCLA Department of French and Francophone Studies takes the exploration of this topic much further in her lecture Thursday, in which she delves into Remy's embodiment of "the lonely gay, both refined and the object of disgust, excluded and successful" and the animated movie as "the story of the Oedipus conflict, mixed with issues of race and species.... If 'anyone can cook,' any queer guy has a role to play in this world -- at least in Paris."

"Queering Ratatouille: A Rat Reclaiming French Cuisine" at Royce Hall, Room 236, UCLA campus, Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
