    Parks and Recreation

I'm sure it will have a name at some point, but we might as well start a thread for any news about it.

    From the NY Post:

Rashida Jones is coming back to the home screen. Jones, who had a role on "The Office" for a year, was just hired by that show's creators and NBC to star in the new show that will be headed by "Saturday Night Live" alumna Amy Poehler. Aziz Ansari is also slated to be onboard. Jones was sorely missed last season after she left "The Office," where she played a romantic interest of John Krasinski's character. She and Krasinski started dating in real life after meeting on the set.

The New York Post reported this morning that Rashida Jones is joining the cast. Immediately suspicious of this information, I contacted Michael Schur, one of the showrunners, who confirms “It’s true. She’ll be playing a nurse named Ann. (Not Karen Fillipelli.)”

A nurse? Hmm...they kind of just gave away what the show is going to be about, didn't they?

    Re: Untitled Amy Poehler Project

    More from Variety:

"The Office" alum Rashida Jones has joined the cast of NBC's "don't-call-it-an-'Office'-spinoff" comedy starring Amy Poehler.
NBC and producers continue to keep a tight lid on the Poehler sitcom, but some details are starting to emerge. Jones is set to play Ann Logan, a nurse whose boyfriend has a strange injury. It's that injury that leads Jones' character into the world populated by Poehler and Aziz Ansari (who was the first thesp attached to the project, back when it was still, indeed, an "Office" spinoff).

Although rumors that Jones would be a part of the show had been flying for months, the net hadn't confirmed her casting until now.

For Jones, it's a reunion with "Office" exec producers Greg Daniels and Mike Schur, who are also creating the new Poehler skein. Thesp played Karen Filippelli, the love interest of Jim (John Krasinski), on season three of "The Office."

"For my money, there's no more emotionally intelligent, cerebral comedy writers in TV than Mike and Greg," Jones said. "There's something about the way they capture the complexity and awkwardness of human dynamics that's so relatable yet so unique."

Jones said she's been told not to reveal too much about the show -- and that Daniels and Schur have even been tight-lipped in giving her information.

"What I don't know, I still trust in these guys so much," she said.

Schur called Jones "funny, talented and beautiful."

"She is perfect for this new show, which -- just to remind everyone -- is not a spinoff of 'The Office,' " he said. "It is a spinoff of 'MASH' called 'Seinfeld II.' "

Producers haven't yet set a shoot date for the first episode, but Jones said she expected to report to work sometime in early 2009. NBC has said the Poehler skein will be ready by spring, but there's no definite date lined up yet -- and the skein could be pushed to fall.

In the meantime, Jones is expected to appear on at least one episode of "The Office" this season.

The actress will next be seen in the feature "I Love You, Man," alongside Paul Rudd and Jason Segel. She's also in the upcoming indies "Life in Flight" and "Brief Interviews With Hideous Men."

Daniels, Schur and Howard Klein are set to exec produce the Poehler project, which comes from Universal Media Studios.

    Re: Untitled Amy Poehler Project

I've been wondering what the "world of Poehler and Ansari" is. A different sub-culture (i.e. they write romance novels), a different plane of existence (i.e. Narnia) or the fact that they are just a couple of complete oddballs. Or they're just clinically crazy, actually that would work pretty well. One day she knows them as business types she met at a lunch and then runs into them a week later and they're homeless, days from that she finds them running a convenience store. Just these two crazies that flit in and out of her circle.

What do ya'll think it means?

Aziz is in this as well. Looking forward to it.

Yes, it was until just recently supposed to be coming out in January, but it just got pushed back a few months to March. I expect we'll probably be seeing a trailer surfacing pretty soon.

Re: Untitled Amy Poehler Project (aka The Office Non-Spinoff)

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/featur...,3954225.story

One of the biggest Hollywood secrets is what will be the premise of the NBC spinoff from the producers of "The Office."

We know it's set to premiere in April. We know that it stars "Saturday Night Live's" Amy Poehler and "The Office's" Rashida Jones and that it will have nothing to do with "The Office."

We also know Aziz Ansari, from the MTV sketch show "Human Giant," will be in it. But even the promise of a plug for his stand-up show at 10:30 p.m. Thursday at The Lakeshore Theater couldn't pry much out of Ansari.

    Q Scoop, please.

A It'll be called "Cory in the House." The premise is Raven's brother Cory moves into the White House because his dad becomes the White House chef. That's the premise of the "That's So Raven" spinoff. I'm allowed to talk as much about that as I want.

    Q Try again.

A It'll be a documentary show from Mike Schur and Greg Daniels, the executive producers from "The Office." They'll have the talking-head segments [the one-on-one interviews on "The Office"].

Q Is the show grounded in our world or some parallel reality?

A We're not in some magical land.

Q There are reports that Rashida Jones will play a nurse whose boyfriend suffers a "strange injury." Are you sure this isn't a spinoff of "Scrubs"?

A No, not "Scrubs Part 2." You know when McDonald's debuted the McGriddle, and people said, "Oh my God, this is crazy and totally different from what I was expecting?" Greg and Mike have done the TV equivalent of injecting syrup in the bun.

*laugh* Aziz made a comparison between McGriddles and a new television show. Wouldn't have thought that possible. Bravo.

Damn, I'd love to read a pilot script of yours cos I'm all for Amy and Aziz kicking around Narnia where they write romance novels. Or in the second scenario you offer, they could just be shape shifters.

I wonder if it might be a psychiatric hospital show. Jones' character could be a psyche nurse. It could be insensitive, but think of the funny. Amy and Aziz playing crazy maybe?

TOTAL ASIDE: I'm obsessed with Cory in the House. I would always stumble across episodes of it at 3am when working at my security dispatch job. It's the most ridiculous show ever. I keep trying to explain how crazy it is to people and they think I am making it up.
