oh, i don't hate the office. i've actually liked the last few episodes a lot. michael isn't a cartoon anymore and dwight has stayed consistently hilarious. i like most of the characters on the show really. but i fucking hate jim and pam, or, as i like to them, dim and bland

The problem I've had with the show, and this could be the exact wrong moment to air it since Michael seems on the brink of a major change, is that the show seems to be spinning its wheels a lot. They keep returning the show to a state of grace. It seems like none of the characters have changed much over the course of the time (except Jan and Ryan). Bringing back Pam and Toby and abandoning Holly to me makes it feel like they are never going to allow anyone to make any changes and the ideas for interesting believable things to happen around the office don't seem as plentiful as they used to.
I think the American version of the show has a contradiction with itself when it comes to the British version. The British version stuck to realism, and it stayed true to that. The people didn't change, because most everyday people don't and that was clear in the special. We see Brent still the same guy he was when the documentary crew was there. The only real change was Tim and Dawn getting together. Everyone else stayed pretty much the same.

What I think the American version is wrestling with is keeping that realism in a format now that begs for unrealistic things. Now looking back at it the addition of Holly and her later transfer was a very realistic thing, which is odd, because it was an inter-office romance, something that plenty of the employees partake in without any consequences, which is very contradictory, but necessary to keep the show going. If I'm hearing what you are saying luxury, you would want more additions like Holly, new things that would bring about more realism to the show and add more depth to characters. I agree with you, now that it's the 5th season and we need somethings to stir the pot a little, but it shouldn't have come to that.

So at the end of the day, what do you want more? Realism? or Funny? Doing both for 5 season isn't any easy feat and there's going to be plenty of duds along the way.

Michael Scott is about to get roasted.

According to people familiar with the plotline, NBC’s just-confirmed post-Super Bowl episode of “The Office” will feature the employees of Dunder Mifflin roasting the show’s lead character, played by Steve Carell.

While neither NBC nor “Office” creator Greg Daniels have kept plans for the post-game show a secret, the network didn’t officially issue a press release about its decision until today.

The roast of Mr. Scott will not be celebrity-driven, but producers are exploring the idea of incorporating some stunt casting into the project. However, the guest stars would be woven into the plotline in such a way as to not interfere with the carefully constructed world of the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin, a person familiar with the plotline said.

It’s expected the roast of Michael Scott will take place in the second half of the episode. Not surprisingly, Michael requests that his employees roast him.

The first half of the episode is expected to involve a “disaster” of some sort, one that’s linked to Dwight’s training as fire marshal.

Mr. Daniels has been thinking about the idea of a Super Bowl episode since at least April, when NBC said during its “in-front” presentation that his show would likely get a berth behind the big game. In August, he said the special promos his staff designed for the Olympics were good practice for a post-Super Bowl story.

“Our promos are getting a lot of positive attention in an environment of 70 million sports fans watching, so it's good practice for post-Super Bowl,” Mr. Daniels said.

An NBC spokeswoman declined comment on the particulars of the “Office” episode

Jim's talking head when he just shudders after Pam threatens him was genuis. probably most cringe worthy scenes were when pam was pratically sedusing Micheal.
Also i totally called Dwight having the German dude marry them.

No offense but you'd have to be a pretty giant idiot if you didn't see that coming

i'm really glad that they did a jim/pam plot that didn't, once again, tease the obvious predictable conflict, but swerve away at the last second (which happened literally in one episode). keep jim and pam in the office and i don't mind them, once they get outside it gets risky.

I like that they waited 5 seasons before giving the whole office a reason to pretend to like Michael. It was worth the wait.

My favorite thing about the episode was Angela's warmth when she told Dwight that he was the one. I love that her perfect day includes a German Mennonite preacher.

I actually thought this was a pretty boring episode. I don't care about the whole Andy/Angela/Dwight thing anymore at all.

I don't really either, but Thursday's "Love Triangle" plot was made worth it with Mose and Andy playing catch in the background of the Dwight/Angela "we're married" scene. The gleefully playing catch was funny enough, but Andy getting distracted by Angela's yelling and Mose nailing him in the head with the ball was priceless.

But if I did that then you would not have anything else to write about.

Did any one think that Jim going to lunch, with Micheal, was so he could support the chair option? What with Pam threatening him only moments prior.
