Re: The "not worth it's own thread" thread

Hello, Brooks Atkinson Theater — are you ready to rock? The Off Broadway musical “Rock of Ages” will be making its way onto Broadway (with a cocky, Mick Jagger-like strut, no doubt) in the spring, the show’s producers announced. “Rock of Ages,” which combines a narrative about an aspiring rocker and the small-town girl he loves with songs by Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx and many other 1980s hair bands, is to begin previews at the Atkinson on March 20 and to open on April 7. Its current Off Broadway run at New World Stages is to end on Jan. 4. New Line acquired the film rights to the musical this month; Chris D’Arienzo, who wrote the show’s book, is expected to write and direct the film.
Weren't Hardwick and Kyle Gass in this or something?

I didn't know where to put this, so i put it here. Besides Doug Benson, anybody notice any other ASTers on this bill?

Hey, that's me! I am very excited for this show, my first real stab at legitimacy. Any Miami ASTers, definitely come out and say hi!

Re: The "not worth it's own thread" thread

    From Yahoo:

LOS ANGELES – The Phoenix Police Department has gotten some high-powered goodies courtesy of actor David Spade.
The one-time Phoenix resident donated $100,000 so that the department can buy approximately 50 AR-15 rifles.
Spade said he wanted to make the donation after seeing a TV news report about Phoenix officers having to buy their own rifles. Spade grew up in the Phoenix area and graduated from Arizona State University.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Alan Hill says the rifles will be given to patrol officers and that the agency was grateful for the gifts.
"These guys need to be able to do their jobs and I am just happy I could help," Spade said in a statement released by his publicist.

    New bumper sticker idea:

"It will be a great day when the Police Department gets all the money they need from David Spade and schools have to hold a bake sale to buy books. "

What was the best concert you've been to?

"Probably Sade. It was just so sexy and relaxing."

Re: The "not worth it's own thread" thread

I don't think it's reruns, it's an extra show devoted just to sports, kind of like what they did with the election. Only longer.

And yeah, it's kinda weird. Focus on making the regular show good, because it's not. And also, what was the last good sports-themed sketch they had?

Maybe they can get four or five different sports personalities to do different versions of the Will Forte dancing halftime speech every week...

Interesting little piece on Bill Hicks and the radical left: http://throughthescarydoor.blogspot....an-leftie.html

I would say the author expected too much from Hicks and comedy in general, they can definitely inspire and inform, but in the end their soul purpose is to entertain.
