I don't have much of an opinion about Dane Cook one way or another, but that clip was not nearly as bad as I was expecting. Also, not nearly as mean as people are making it seem. Just not very good, thats all.

But then, his material has never been that good.

As far as walking the room goes, however, if there were people following him, telling people its ok to leave toward the end of his set seems like an especially direct and shitty way to do it.

I think Steven_M was onto something about Dane's taste. Even if you hate Dane's first two cds, you have to admit that they are a whole lot better than the material he was doing in Vicious Circle. Look at this!

OK, maybe that isn't hilarious, but one of the most common complaints about Cook is that he has no jokes, and say what you will about this bit, it definitely contains jokes(speed/Quik).

Vicious Circle, on the other hand, is a humorless shit pile.

But the crowd loves it! To be fair, a couple of those lines were clearly call-backs, but still, it is a terrible bit, devoid of jokes or anything resembling humor.

So Cook is able to produce somewhat decent material(don't hurt me), yet if you watched Vicious Circle you would have no reason to think that. My personal theory on Cook is that he has no ability to recognize which bits are funny on his own. You often hear comedians say they have to work their material out onstage, but what if the audience laughs and applauds no matter what you say? How do you learn anything?

I'm sure Cook isn't the first comic to go through that, in fact I think Zack Galifianakis is dealing with it right now, but I think Cook is uniquely bad at overcoming unwavering support from the audience.

Oh my god, I spelled his name wrong! Maybe he isn't. I think I heard him say on some podcast that he is or that he's going to. All I know is every time I hear him on a live podcast the crowd loses their minds whenever he speaks, and it irks me because they are trying to ruin him.

Comedian Todd Lynn has passed away

I wasn't too familiar with him, I mostly remember him from his appearances on Tough Crowd

    "Loose hairs in the bathroom."

    LOL.

    (pubes)

Also, spiders don't actually spin cobwebs, right? I've never seen a scary-ass spider (like the one shown being casually shtickied away) on a cobweb.

This article written about the opening of a new comedy club might be one of the worst things I've ever read.

"I love comedy. I watch skits on YouTube daily, but I have never actually gone to a live standup comedy show. The way I see it, why go see a person for their talent of making people laugh at an expense when I can watch it for free on my handy dandy laptop anywhere I choose?"

Seems like a great newspaper, but in the 'How do you get to Chico State everyday?' poll, there's no button to click for, "Why on earth would I go to some fucking dump school in the middle of nowhere whose only claim to fame is making a list of 'most alcoholic students' 20 years ago?".
Hey, check me out. I'm a ghost.

She has a good point, why go out in public when you can spend your $10 on cheap alcohol and watch Katt Williams clips on YouTube at home?

I think everything on theorion.com gets a free pass. It's a college newspaper desperately trying to look credible, and they have the balls to pick a domain name that I will mistake for theonion.com every time I read it.

None of those things make me inclined to give it a free pass.
