Re: NEVER NOT FUNNY #524 - Paul Gilmartin
Yeah - they've gone nuts w/the bonus episodes all of a sudden.
In my informationTunes I've got that "odds & ends" bonus video & the Vancouver bonus audio. Add the Comedy Death-Ray podcast that should be coming, & I assume a new NNF episode this week, & one doesn't need the UCB theatre to have their own Jimmy Pardo Week. |

Re: NEVER NOT FUNNY #524 - Paul Gilmartin
Sadly, I missed the Vancouver NNF taping (so glad I can hear it in podcast form - yay!), but I did catch "You Fascinate Me" at the Westin and it was fantastic!
I have a handful of photos from the show up on my website (scroll past the bit in this entry about the Andy Kindler talk show) and in my Vacouver Flickr set if anyone wants to see them. Would also like to add that this crew is a joy to photograph. So expressive. Thanks for coming up north! It was a delight. As I mentioned on my site, I probably laughed more during this show than another other at the Vancouver festival. |

And confirmed as of just minutes ago, the NNF crew have signed on to return for "MaxFunCon 2," which makes that another live show people will get in May. The show they did at MaxFunCon 2009 was one of my favorites and helped make the entire weekend fantastic.

Re: NEVER NOT FUNNY #524 - Paul Gilmartin
This is indeed great news! What a fun time that was. I'm definitely in, and bringing my little daughter again. (As soon as I get my finances in order!)

Re: NEVER NOT FUNNY #524 - Paul Gilmartin
All good news, but
I can still only get Starchild and Vancouver from the NNF website. My information-tunes has never heard of them. I've refreshed my Primo feed several times and still the most recent things are TopsandBots and StupidQuestions (for which I am very grateful of course; but I am just curious as to what I am doin' wrong?) |

Re: NEVER NOT FUNNY #524 - Paul Gilmartin
So, Matt said something like "MySpace is for... I'm just gonna say it... black people."
MySpace to Facebook = White Flight?

Re: NEVER NOT FUNNY #524 - Paul Gilmartin
I was kidding when I said that, but now I'm wondering what's behind that trend. For me, MySpace was always a necessary evil -- I found it to be so poorly designed and slow that as soon as there was a superior alternative that people I know were embracing, I jumped. But there is something sort of preppy and J. Crew-ish about Facebook's aesthetic, and I wonder if that turns some African-Americans off. Or maybe it's just as simple as: you go (or stay) where your friends are.
But there's no denying this: Facebook is all ![]() MySpace is all

Re: NEVER NOT FUNNY #524 - Paul Gilmartin
I think when I joined MySpace, facebook wasn't even open to non-students. I hated, hated, hated the MySpace interface from day one, and the more people pimped out their pages, the less likely I was to visit. I didn't want to click on a profile and be treated to 4 streaming mp3s, 6 videos, 24 flash photo albums, etc. It's crazy! I still have a profile there, but I haven't logged on in well over a year.
(Good photo illustration!)

Re: NEVER NOT FUNNY #524 - Paul Gilmartin
Yeah, Facebook had the benefit of building up a huge user base amongst college kids, so by the time it was available to the general public a lot of people had already heard of it -- the buzz had already built. And like myself and Darryl, a lot of people were probably soured on the MySpace user experience but still in need of a social networking home-base.
