Re: Never Not Funny Season 11

Has Jimmy and the gang ever considered expanding their content output?

I'd gladly pay more money, or a monthly subscription, in exchange for another episode every week or other week. This could give you a chance to have other interns in the room, just to get some new energy and new skits for Jimmy. It's not like you have to worry about repeating guests too much; I gladfully stuck around for the entire first season with mostly Jimmy/Mike/Matt.

Just a thought. There's not enough JP in my week.

While we're bringing up Bil Dwyer, I'd like to voice my opinion that he is my favorite NNF guest of all time. Also, football season is back so hopefully we'll be seeing him in those adorable Pop Warner-themed commercials.

LOOK. I know we're on season 11 and this isn't the Never Not Funny help desk, but I got rid of my iTunes and I want to use the rss feed. Season 10 worked, but I'm not having any luck with seasons before 10...any ideas? I'm using google reader
I don't do a radio show anymore, so stop asking (nobody asked)

Confirmed on Roger Clemens being a massive dick.

I had the pleasure of refereeing one of his sons' 8th grade basketball games back in 1999 or so with Clemens in the crowd. His son was huge and athletic, but probably hadn't played much basketball. He was a goon, knocking people around.

Meanwhile, Roger Clemens is an entitled prick, whining and yelling about every call, especially those involving his son. After yelling at my partner calling him the "worst ever" or some shit like that, i had to go up to Clemens, explain that it's an 8th grade basketball game, it's at a school and supposed to be educational, and tell him to settle down or he'll be forced to leave. I don't remember exactly what he said in return, but i know it was an argument justifying his actions and not an apology. He toed the line the rest of the game, but didn't do anything to get tossed. The 8th grade coach unnecessarily apologized to me for Clemens's behavior as did a few of the parents of the children. One told me Clemens had been tossed out of a previous game.

That was fun. At least he's showing interest in his kids.

    ----

In more positive news, Debra Clemens (his wife) was kind enough to donate some of her "art" to the silent auction at last month's Houston Astros Wives' Gala in support of the Houston Area Women's Center (domestic/sexual violence counseling and battered women's shelter). One of Debra's pieces was a white baseball cap that she bedazzled with multicolored metal sparkles and had signed by Mr. Clemens. It was simultaneously pointless, ridiculous, and hideous.

I was a volunteer at the silent auction and sold the shit out of that hat, channeling Todd Glass's QVC character:

Ma'am, most people lack the bone structure and personality to pull-off a hat like that. It's a lot of look. The hat would receive all the attention and they would be lost in consequence.

    However, you are the exception.

For you, the hat complements your natural gifts and radiant smile. By carrying off a look like that, you are making a bold, fashion-forward statement to the world...that you are a beautiful lady, who appreciates beautiful things.
It worked, as multiple people bid on the item...either because they "get it" or just to get me to shut up.

This was the kids movie Matt and Jimmy were talking about. Same producer as Barney, by the way.

i hate being this person, but it did kinda bug me that dave anthony spent 5 minutes complaining about atheists who won't just let people go to church if it works for them and then followed that up with "why would people walk across hot coals? it does nothing spiritual for you."

In fairness, you hear a LOT more from atheists trying to shit all over other people than you hear from people complaining about hot coal walkers. Still a bit hypocritical though.

People complaining about atheists talking too much about being atheist is the new atheists talking too much about being atheist.

    Which is to say, annoying.

it must be an american thing. i'm from a country where the single largest "religious" group is atheist, and people just don't talk about religion one way or the other. roughly half the population believes in some higher power, but it's just not really brought up, even among close friends.

living in the US for the last 3 years, i've been made to feel uncomfortable about my non-christian-ness more times than i can count. i totally understand why atheists might be militant in the US. christianity is really pervasive here and it's hard not to feel attacked when someone's aunt is shouting at you over thanksgiving dinner "JEWS AND MUSLIMS ARE THE ENEMY! CHRIST IS LOVE!" (the turkey was worth it, though).

Matt had me rolling this episode. He had like 3 within 5 minutes that made me Pardo blurt

"I call them slow boats. And by the way, I've never called them that."

"Come on, George. Get your feet out of the tomato sauce."

    "Worse. They're Australian."
"He's got a dick, why won't he talk about it?"

How could you leave out "Hamburgers don't gotta be round, yo!" (or something like that)

As magnificent as Jimmy is and as fun as the guests have been it's Matt who's frequently come out with The Funniest Line(s) of the Episode lately.

Wanted to echo that Matt was just killing it this episode, enough so that it would be unfair for me not to post as much to the thread where he can see it.
