    Modern Family

Has anyone seen this yet? Some critic called it the funniest show he's ever seen or some dumb shit.

That can't possibly be true, can it? I'm at work, otherwise I would be watching it right now - I think you can screen it on the net.

    Re: Modern Family

I'm not aware of anywhere where you can watch the pilot online (I think I'd rather wait, anyway), but everything I've seen so far from this show has made it look pretty funny. The creator/executive producer, Steven Levitan, was a "Larry Sanders" writer who later went on to create "Just Shoot Me" and also worked on "Greg the Bunny".

I keep reading that this and "Community" are the two best new comedies of this season.
There's really not a lot of competition for that title though.

    Re: Modern Family

I liked Community if only for what I saw as promise (but I also thought it was fun and funny) and I will be looking out for this then.

Here's the link I was sent by email: http://abc.go.com/shows/modern-famil...t_0910_fob_abc

and here's the password they gave me that expires on Sunday: s2sp3ner

I don't know if it only works once or not so good luck.

It was certainty an establishing episode.
Garrett Gonzalez Morris (born February 1, 1937) is an American comedian and actor from New Orleans, Louisiana. He was part of the original cast of the sketch comedy program Saturday Night Live, appearing from 1975 to 1980

    Re: Modern Family

I know they're not really in competition, but I liked this a lot more than Community. It just felt a lot more lived in from the get-go, even though they had to do the whole establishing characters thing. I'm only spoilering this since it seems like most of you haven't seen it yet, but the
    Spoiler:
was fucking amazing. And I loved Ed O'Neill's step son.

I did not expect to like this as much as I did. I hated the actor playing "cool dad" on sight, felt he was horribly miscast (he looks like a Wall St corporate raider vampire, not a 40-year-old who still plays video games), but goddamn it if he didn't get all the funniest stuff to do! By the end I was okay with him. And yeah, the Colombian kid is amazing. He's the next Michael Cera.

I'm making fun of the people making fun of the original thing. But I'm also giving this show a genuine stamp of approval, courtesy of AST.

The cool dad played Lisa Kudrow's wife in The Comeback, which was a really funny show that he was really funny in. I thought everyone was great in the pilot. Definitely going to keep following this show.

Brasky, you've been on the gratitude gravy train too long! A little gentle teasing was inevitable!

Oh, and, uh, I better love this because zombie dad and swishy gay make me want to puke in the ads.

Yeah, the ads made it look really lame. The writing is a big step up from the broad stereotype and stock parenting jokes the network is highlighting.

I demand to know who makes up the certification board of the AST approval committee! I couldn't find any names in the ast federal register! Approvals should be allotted time for public comment! More jokes along these lines!
