Dude. You don't own the movie. It's not your place to disseminate it, especially if the owner doesn't want anyone to, but either way, even if no one minded, it's incredibly obnoxious for you to act like it's your right (or duty) to share other people's work as if it's your own, let alone complain about their decisions. No one gives a fuck what you personally think she should do with the movie.

    Re: Mitch Hedberg's Los Enchiladas!

I don't care if you distribute the movie. I have nothing to do with it, and as far as I can tell, no one's going out of their way to stop you. What I don't like is that you think your wishes are more important than the wishes of Mitch Hedberg's widow. Which person do you think Mitch would rather have making these decisions? And my problem after that is that you're acting like a belligerent asshole about it. Just because you think it deserves to be released doesn't mean anything. It's not your call.

"Don't be ignorant and tell me I have no concern for the work."

Okay. I didn't and I wasn't going to. But don't tell me how much work you put into releasing something you have zero right to release as if that somehow legitimizes what you're doing. Again, I'm not remotely bothered that you put it online, and I also don't think you putting it out is going to stop people from buying it if it ever gets an official release. Just quit acting like your ability to turn it into an avi gives you ownership. It's kind of disgusting.

    Re: Mitch Hedberg's Los Enchiladas!

Dear Sub Par Detective with a touch of shadiness and Mitch Hedberg hating undertones,

Wow. Congratulations! I suppose you are the new self appointed guardian of the Mitch Hedberg's Estate.

The fate of Mitch movie - something he wrote, directed and financed himself - has somehow fallen into your claws. Mitch would be so happy.

I have been informed of your 'DEMANDS" regarding this movie. Your bullish technique makes me uncomfortable. You have demanded that I send out a release and record a video for you tube stating when, how and where Los Enchiladas! will re released. Am I required to wear a black hood?

I'm sorry I am not comfortable with this. And I'm pretty sure Mitch would be similarly offended and creeped out. But I suppose your agenda doesn't really have anything to do with what he would want.

I hear that you have already 'claimed the bounty' and are basking in all the torrent site glory that has come your way since you decided to uploaded an unfinished shitty recording of Mitch's film that included unlicensed music.

Good for you. You may want to inform your fans that you have in fact jeopordized the actual release of the Los Enchiladas! that represents Mitch's pesky vision, something you seem so repulsed by. Let the crew and cast, that you purport to champion as owner's of the film, that you may have screwed them as well.

When a person dies, do you think it means that their art and life's work is up for grabs by any creep that feels entitled? It seems so. You are so passionate about your entitlement and need to see the movie! And goddammit, you deserve this!!!

Actually, as his wife I am the owner along with his partner who worked on the film at the time. There are contracts as well as areas that require a lot of money before it can be released. Your denial of laws and respect for Mitch is so refreshing.

There are also personal aspects of this story that you know nothing about.

I suppose that you are not clouded by emotional attachment, on going depression and an overwhelming desire to do the right thing when required to take action for a loved one who is no longer alive.

I have been working on a new Mitch website that will allows fans to discover Mitch's notebooks. It will highlight his notes, short stories and essays as well as hundreds of jokes he wrote that can't be heard on his CDS. I was planning on doing a show for the launch (May 17th - Steve Allen Theater, Los Angeles with proceeds going to The Innocence Project)...but hey, why bother now that you have become the decision maker.

I hear that you only released the shitty quality, unfinished and un licensed copy of the movie because you were SO concerned that it may be the only copy and you were compelled and required to release it. As a self proclaimed Mitch Hedberg fan - you should have been aware that I have shown the movie in theaters in CA, TX and IN recently - with proceeds going to charity. You would know this had you attempted to read and also try and get in touch with me. I am on facebook - detective, you should be ashamed!

I am also in negotiations for financing a documentary. There is an award winning documentary director involved. I was looking forward to sharing some incredible footage that Mitch and I (and family and friends) took over the years.

Once again I feel doubtful. What if I don't deliver in a timely manner that you find suitable and entitled too? Will you scheme and search and upload and unfinished copy vigilante style? We'll see.

Anyway, sorry if I sound so harsh. I tend to get emotional about this.

Please let me know who gave you the copy. Thanks!

Also - I think you should apply for a patent for your incredible Internet Time/Real World Time calculation. You could make millions.

Also - Drift is a lovely comedian and human being. He became involved when I asked him to help me tack down how this all started. Your instinct to doubt and put him down is so heart warming and I guess rounds out the great impression you give. I picking up 'sociopath-lite'. Poor Mitch.

    Peace!

    Re: Mitch Hedberg's Los Enchiladas!

I just read your 'fantasy post' regarding it being an 'Orphan Film'. Um no. Mitch owned his film that he spent hundreds of thousands of his own money on. I am his wife and widow so I own it. There is is a print (that needs some repair) and original master tapes.

I can only say that I have intimate knowledge of Mitch wanted for the film. Plus, I'm sorry grief and real life can hinder how people go about releasing things and in what order. Like I said, there are personal aspects involved.

And you are ridiculous. I can only hope that you never lose a loved one (?) and a person lacking empathy and tact goes after that persons 'work' and takes it upon themselves to inject themselves into your life and the lives of others. Move along.

    Re: Mitch Hedberg's Los Enchiladas!

Ok.... So there is a reason I hadn't signed up for an account all these years...

I've seen the 'rough version' (which should obviously be taken down) and I think Mitch did a really solid job, especially since he had the tasks of writing, directing, co-producing, and starring in the film. The fact that I found myself enjoying each moment throughout the whole film, even though the plot wasn't much more than "people at work who don't like work", proves to me that this is a great film.

I'm sorry to see it's release take an immense stumble such as this one, and I truly do look forward to seeing a proper Los Enchiladas! release in the future.
(and a documentary too?? Sounds interesting!)

I had a parrot. The parrot talked, but it did not say "I'm hungry," so it died.

Awww maaaaan. The video that was linked to originally is such a great example of a bootleg. It feels like a good ol fashion bootleg. It is a crummy vcr dump with tracking issues (remember those?). A throwback, but what a current day dream line-up of performers in it.
I don't feel bad for getting it. If it is ever released in it's original quality I'll pre-order it on ____.com and cross my fingers that they get Maron to host a bunch of cool special features on it.
    What a gloriously promising bootleg.

    edit: bootleg

Hey, I'm part of the staff on MySpleen, one of the sites where Nitrosoxide uploaded torrents of the bootlegs. I've been on the fence about the issue, waiting to hear Lynn's official stance. She's clearly pissed off and intends to release the movie. I'll remove the copies from our site in the interest of keeping a good relationship between ourselves and the creators of the content we love. Lynn may not fall directly into that category in this case, but she does represent Mitch in a way that no one else can.
