    The Late Live Show

The Late Live Show is a late-night talk show that's produced in Chicago at Second City's de Maat Theater. In a city full of places to see stand-up and sketch/improv, a group of comedians from both disciplines came together in 2010 to put on a different type of show, one more in the vein of Letterman and Conan. Although it's currently hosted by me (Joe Kwaczala!) the original run had two hosts: myself and C.J. Toledano, who went on to write for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

We have a thread for the live show on the Chicago board, but we put out enough video content, that I thought it warranted a post on the Comedy forum as well. Here's some stuff we've done:

A trailer to give you an idea of the kind of show we are

    A pre-taped commercial parody

A remote that sidekick Joe McAdam did

    A recent monologue

So I'll be updating this occasionally with other videos we've done. We produce a lot of content, so hopefully we can keep your interest!

That Manderly's sketch is pretty fantastic.

Wish I still lived in Chicago to see this. Great work everyone!

    Re: The Late Live Show

I finally had a chance to see this show, and it is sincerely a good time and feels just like your familiar late night talk show format.

You can tell these guys put a lot of work into it, from opening video, sketches, an interesting guest, and musical guest. On top of that, it's pretty well produced, which isn't something I see very often... and I see a lot of stuff. Too much.

If you happen to be in Chicago, it's worth checking out.

Joe McAdam, playing the sidekick role a'la Andy Richter of the show.

Opening sketch with a musical number.

Alternate Sign Meanings, goddamnit this made me laugh out loud.

The AV Club's Keith Phipps talks about bad movies such as Wicker Man, From Justin to Kelly and Mac & Me. He was a last minute replacement for Jeff Garlin who called out sick, and as a horrible movie fan, I now have a couple new movies to add to my queue.

As the crew clears off the stage for the musical guest, The Part 5, Joe and Joe go over some rejected monologue jokes.

Isn't that Nathan Rabin, not Keith Phipps?

That IS Nathan Rabin indeed. For the record, we've had both on the show.

For those interested, Second City canceled The Late Live Show. Here is my statement on the matter, and here is an article from The AV Club about it.

Hey! This thing that I do is back, and we're being much better about posting clips. Below is a video from last week's episode that I think a lot of AST users will like:

We've got a bunch more videos on our YouTube page and ticket and general info on our website.

Just posting these things because I think people will like them. Every show we do is preceded by a "warm-up" character. Here are two of our favorites:

It's been a while since I've posted any updates from The Late Live Show, so I thought I'd share some clips. We're currently at the iO Theater in Chicago for our sixth and final season, and the show is truly the best it's ever been. We just did a special show at the Comedy Central Stage with Paul Feig and Rob Paulsen, and a number of our writers are now involved with writing for The Onion News Network. Here's some things I think you guys will like:

    Some character pieces:

    Some interview moments:

    Jokes and sketches:
