I studied every word of "Kath & Kim" for work, and I agree with the good-performances/not-so-hot-writing feelings on this thread.
Take that last episode, where the old woman dies and her hair in the coffin isn't to Kath's liking, so she tries to fix it, and then they can't, so they sneak back in, but the body's already gone, so then they spend another minute having Kath and Kim gawk over different crazy coffins.
"Crazy coffins?" That's the out? This is your heightening of a story line that started out dealing with life and death? This is where you land?
Everything was so inconsequential, nobody took anything seriously, so how could an audience be asked to take anything seriously? At least the fat kid on "Two and A Half Men" HAS to eat something or he'll get really upset.
