    Re: Judd Apatow's Funny People

Why do I get the foreboding sense that they spent more time coming up with and executing these fake movies and TV shows than in making the actual movie any good?

Hehe...it's the Judd Apatow "Let's put the Kodak employees' kids through college by seeing how many feet of film we can shoot on this movie" philosophy. The DVD cut of the movie will probably be 3 hours long.

I love it. The movie better deliver, though. All this promo stuff is getting me way too hyped up.

Sandler's character, George Simmons, has his own web page at www.george-simmons.com
where you can see more fake film clips, posters, etc.

The Re-Do video is the funniest thing I've seen Adam Sandler do since I became old enough to know Adam Sandler movies aren't funny.

Does anyone have a copy of the leaked script from a while back? I've been hearing a lot about it on IMDB, and I was just wondering where one might procure a copy. These teasers are getting me too anxious!

I read it when I was bored one night, the script had close to zero stand up in it tho and I'm assuming a lot of the dialogue will be improvised and such... so I dont think i ruined it for me... who knows tho?

Just finished reading the script and now I am extremely excited. It was very incomplete without the standup there, so I have something to look forward to. Also, this opens in theaters on my birthday!

After his CC taping tonight Aziz came back out and did a short set as Randy. It was amazing.

    Re: Judd Apatow's Funny People

I thought the joke was supposed to be that Randy was a shitty, pandering stand-up comedian, but I actually think his material's pretty funny

"Maybe he's making mix CDs for all the girls he's fucking....but two of those girls aren't getting CDs!"

Hehe...A lot of it seems like Aziz's regular stand-up, just "hip"ified up with a lot of "Randy!"s and DJ noises.

    Re: Judd Apatow's Funny People

Yeah, a lot of the material was stuff I saw Aziz doing first as himself (like that CD thing), and then he just amped it up for Raaaaaaaandy.

    Re: Judd Apatow's Funny People

Yeah those clips are from the 30 minute set I did at the Orpheum. I was only supposed to do like 10, but they asked me to keep going so I had to "Randy" up some of my Aziz jokes to fill time. The Randy specific material will all be in the documentary thing Jason Woliner and I have been working on, which should hopefully be online in some form soon.

Excellent, is this independent of the movie (you and Jason release on your own) or is this actually a part of the marketing (will be a DVD extra)?
