    I Need Mr. Show-Related Help!

    Hey,

I would love it if you guys could help me by throwing out a few Mr. Show monologues. (Not the whole thing, just which sketch or episode it was in.)

I need to bring a comedy monologue to my class tomorrow, want to use Mr. Show, but am having trouble thinking of monologues from it.

Since I need to write it out word for word, I figured my fellow comedy nerds could save me the 15 hours from watching all 30 episodes again.

Also, if you have a good monologue from a different show in mind, I would love you forever*.

    Thanks!

Season 1, episode 4 - The performance artist that tries to defecate on the American flag, but can't. Not terribly long, but the first 'monologue-ey' thing that I could think of.

Kids in The Hall has tons of great monologues. Bruce McCullough's 'The day I connected with My Dog' is one of the greatest monologues ever, along with Dave Foley's 'I'm the guy with the positive attitude about menstruation'...
Hey, check me out. I'm a ghost.

For "Kids" monologues, nothing beats "I'm A Bad Doctor."

You guys rock! I think I'm going to go with the Bad Doctor one. The class is all about learning how to audition for roles, and I guess some agents will require you to recite a monologue, so we have to bring one in and memorize it. As hilarious as the reaction would be, I'm not so sure the casting people would appreciate it if I pulled out the menstruation one!

    Thanks again!

I was thinking that! I just figured it would be too hard to convey without having two casting agents there.

I've decided to go with "Letter to Guy in Hospital" http://www.kithfan.org/work/transcri.../hospital.html

The monologue can't be too long, and this was the shortest one I found that I felt would also be an appropriate one to use.

    Thanks!

As long as "asshole" is an acceptable thing to say, that's another great one.

For Mr. Show, I'd go with 'God's Autobiography'.

For Kids In The Hall, I've always had a soft spot for 'Bruce McCullough's open letter to the guy who stole/the people who watched the guy steal his bike wheel'.

i actually did the audition sketch as a monologue for a high school class. went over pretty well, but the teacher said that i wasn't taking acting seriously.

sorry, high school acting teacher. i guess that makes two of us.

(sorry to any high school acting teachers that just read this!)

I wonder if any Mr. Show-heads can help me - I'm trying to recall the context of a gag where Mr. Show parodied (quickly, in a throw-away gag as part of a larger sketch - maybe a Senator Tankerbell thing?) the Washington D.C. acapella group The Capital Steps (sub-Weird Al style lite political parody songs). Does anyone remember what episode this might be a part of? Thanks in advance...

It's the sketch about the president farting. It's from 407, "Eat Rotten Fruit from a Shitty Tree." In it, Jay Johnston plays President "Tutti" Fruitti. The whole sketch is satire about the whole President Clinton getting a blowjob thing that happened around the same time. It's basically a straightly-played acted out version of the limerick that starts "Marty Farty threw a party.."

The Capitol Steps type group sings "Beans, beans, the musical fruit..."

    Daddy Drank..

you'd have to play both parts of course, but you would win!

edit: really, who dares not to like Daddy Drank? Fisticuffs at Dawn!

Kids in the Hall Season 4 Episode 11 Dave Foley's "Dear Guy I Clotheslined". Probably my favorite monologue from KITH.

It wasn't really a shit show... more of an excrement parade.
