    Re: Girls

Finally got around to seeing this and I thought it was a perfect end to a near-perfect run. I know everyone is kind of over the whole bullshit backlash thing now, but I was listening to the Champs podcast and either Neal Brennan or Moshe Kasher (who fucking knows who's who with those two) brought it up and reminded me why it was so uncalled for and ridiculous...
This is a great show that's created, written, directed (sometimes), produced by and starring a real, normal looking young woman - how much do you need from a show? Does it need to simultaneously break every boundary?
I'm preaching to the choir here I'm sure because most people seem to have come to their senses about it now, but I'm all emotional after the closing music (even the music choices are excellent ferchrissakes) so there you go.

Lena Dunham is supposed to be live commentating on the Girls Marathon right now, but first she didn't have cable or wifi due to the storm, then she forgot that she just moved and didn't have HBO, so she ordered it and then she stopped tweeting altogether during the last episode.

What I need is for the show to be good. That's it. Makes no difference what the person who made it looks like or if I think they're normal.

Okay, hate to drag up a long buried subject, but I think I may have been a little too harsh on this show in my original opinion (with words like "hate" and the like). So, I'm giving it another shot. Going to have more of an open-mind this time and try not to wish that the characters' heads would burst into flames.

Ha. There's the strong opinion that I was speaking of.
Yeah, I was wrong. Just watched the first episode on my lunch break and I must have been in a really bad mood when I first watched it. So good.

I still think the pilot is not that great but the season gets better as it goes. I really like this show now but I felt the same way after watching the first episode. It didn't help that HBO built it up as the hilarious voice of our generation. I get wanting to build interest but good lord.

    Re: Girls

I think that was my problem. I was expecting this hilariously funny comedy (not having seen Tiny Furniture) and ended up turning it off halfway through because I couldn't relate to those girls one bit. On my second try, I had more of an open mind and found a couple of parts laugh out loud funny. I can't wait to watch the rest of the season.

    Re: Girls

My favorite episode was when Hannah and Adam started their "normal" relationship (HIGHLY UNLIKELY) and I also love the conversation between Hannah and Elijah when she calls him on his "fruity little voice" and scarf. There's one cut where her eyes are rolled so far into her head just before, I had to watch it on my computer to see up close all the subtle stuff.
