    Re: Girls

I really liked that episode and thought it was important for lots of reasons. Not least of them being that (at points) it finally showed Hannah being mature and appreciative toward her parents, proving that she is not simply a solipsistic spoiled asshole. She found her parents naked in the bathroom after a "sex injury" and she reacted appropriately and maturely. She didn't laugh. She didn't freak out or whine about how gross she found them and the situation. Shit -- nobody wants to have to touch their naked dad. But he needed her and she stepped up. And I think the graphic nudity really drove that point home. Whether that was the intention or not.

Also -- that was what prompted her mom to offer her the money. The money that she needed so badly yet chose not take. Good stuff.

    Re: Girls

I don't think she can discount the "safety net" of Michigan because her parents are barely holding themselves together, I think she discounts it because she likes NYC and thinks it makes her interesting and exciting. And fucking Adam is better than fucking Pharmacy Guy, even if he's messed up. Adam = NYC.

Allow me to be a geek. I keep saying this but this was the best episode yet. So funny. The rhythm is so perfect, it goes in n out of comedy and drama pretty seamlessly. That scene with Jessa and Kathryn Hahn. Every scene with Adam (especially the beatboxing one).

Ok I just IMDB'd the actor and his character's name is Adam Sackler? I like this show.

    Re: Girls

Kathryn Hahn could play Jessa's mom, they look identical. Was that jenny Slate as the author-girl? Nice to see Michael Imperioli; I think they should focus more on Hannah writing. She fancies herself a writer but does not do much of it.

I just want to say that this show is perfect and there are so many layers (comedy and drama) and each one is perfect. And it keeps getting better and better.

Just because I couldn't remember the name of a character who has the same name as my newborn son doesn't make me an idiot! That's it, I'm done! This friendship is over!

I like how Newt left this open-ended enough that it could apply to anyone. What do you think this is, the "things you did not post" thread?

    Re: Girls

I disagree about the Slim Leg. Ray doesn't know what he's talking about. Hannah should wear a straight leg, nothing tapered. Also, didn't he READ HER DIARY in front of a bunch of people??

Yeah, it's like Ray is wrong about most things or something.

How did Michael Imperioli turn into Griffin Dunne so quickly?
Hey, check me out. I'm a ghost.

He was right about not bringing a baby to a warehouse party. He should have included don't bring 45-year old Andy From Singles either.

    I love this...

Since I'm old and terrible at using the Internet, is there an easy way to find gifs like this one? Where would someone go hunting for them?

If you're impatient, like me, you'd google "HBO Girls a slim leg gif" and be delighted that it actually WAS that easy.

Between Ray and Jessa, I can't decide who gives the worst advice. I kinda couldn't believe Hannah was dumb enough to heed Ray's suggestion to "write about death." The dude's an idiot, but at least he is a hilarious idiot. "What could be more trivial than intimacy?"

I am trying to think of a good Ray comparison. Maybe early Pete Campbell? I want to punch him in the throat but since he's a fictional character I just want to see more of him on the show.

    From Vulture:
"When I wrote that peeing-on-in-the-shower scene, I was like, 'Oh yeah, this is just a funny thing that happens between people,'" Dunham says on today's episode of the B.S. Report. But HBO had a stronger reaction. "[People from the network asked,] 'Do we really want to do this? ... In a new loving relationship, is this really what we want to portray?'" Indeed it was. "I was so delusional that I was like, 'What? That's the most normal part of the entire episode!'" Dunham says. "'What's weird is when they kiss and hug at the end.'"

Listening to the Kenya Barris episode of Pete Holmes' podcast. They're talking about Will Smith's house and Kenya just said that his rich friends told him that the thing to notice in a rich person's house is the rug. They spent a good couple of minutes talking about rich people and their crazy-ass expensive rugs. Funny.
