    The Fogelnest Files

Surprised no one has made a thread for this yet. Anyway, this is a new podcast from Earwolf which I guess is going to be a monthly thing.

    http://www.earwolf.com/show/the-foge...ake-fogelnest/

The Fogelnest Files is a podcast taped live at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles where Jake Fogelnest and some of his favorite comedians and funny friends revisit pop culture gems from the Internet and Jake’s personal archive.

The first episode is up and it's really great; Jake takes a look at various funny old talk show and TV clips dealing with punk music, along with his guests Chris Gethard and Julie Klausner.

The clips include a tape-faced Sex Pistols fan, Jello Biafra explaining the Beastie Boys to Oprah, an infomercial for a hardcore punk CD compilation, The Ramones on Regis and Kathie Lee, and Fear's legendary performance on “Saturday Night Live.”

Jake even helpfully created a Youtube playlist for the first episode so you can watch all the clips that were shown live.

Hope this continues to be a regular thing; I am going to be in LA in October I think and this seems like the kind of show that would be fun to see live.

I really liked the first episode a lot. I've always had a fondness for Fogel (for no reason, really), so it's nice to have it confirmed. Totally dorky, trivial talking points that I'd be excited about if any of my friends ever brought them up. julie and chris were super charming as well.

P.S. - I like his hardcore screaming at interrupters.

    This clip deserves special recognition:

I was really expecting someone would comment on how the girl just says "yeah" a half dozen times. Worst hype man ever.

Great new podcast. Really fun. It should be video though but I am sure that would be trickier re: production.

I thought J-Fog was pretty much a perfect host and both guests were on form too.

The second episode of this is up and it features Paul F. Tompkins and Jon Daly talking about movies; topics include C. Thomas Howell in "Soul Man", "The Tingler" with Vincent Price, "Dr. Detroit", "Howard the Duck" and more. Check it out!

Another fantastic episode! Just when I thought I didn't have room in my life for another podcast, this one pulls me in. Everything about it is perfect, from the monthly frequency to the themed episodes to the guest commenters.

The nerd in me feels the need to point out that the narrator for the Haunted Mansion ride is not Vincent Price as Jon Daly thought, it's Paul Frees , who also did lots of voices for Jay Ward cartoons (Boris in Rocky & Bullwinkle, Fred in Super Chicken, etc.)

I totally had that "Crazy Calls" cassette tape when I was younger. I remember using the "You gotta wait for the beep! You gotta leave your name, you gotta leave your number" rap one.

The Freedom Rock commercial, down to its pacing, is imprinted on my brain. Gaaaaaaaaah!

This show is great. I, too, remembered the Freedom Rock and Crazy Calls commercials beat for beat. I was surprised he didn't play the "Hey Love" soul collection:

Next week's episode should be awesome, Jake's guest will be Julie Brown and supposedly she talks about working with Victoria Jackson on the episode ("Like working with a cartoon character, but one who talks about communists a lot")

So listen to that show! (Yes, I am part of Jake's street team)

    Re: The Fogelnest Files

Haha, as a joke I left a review on the Itunes page for the Fogelnest Files where I reviewed the album "Kimono My House" by the band Sparks. This apparently tickled Jake and he mentions it on this week's show. Stay tuned for the very end of the episode where he reads part of my review.

Way to go Brasky. Also, I fucking love this show. I don't know if it is because I am around the same age as Jake or was raised on the same cable/music nonsense, but, fuck, it makes me happy.
