    Re: Favorite comedy podcasts?

Shows I currently pay for in some way (subscription, bonus eps, live shows, merch): Doug Loves Movies/The Benson Interruption, Majority Report with Sam Seder, Sklarbro Country, Walking the Room, Never Not Funny, Comedy and Everything Else/Jimmy Dore Show

Shows I would pay for: Smartest Man in the World, Todd Glass Show

Shows I used to pay for: WTF, Jordan Jesse Go/The Sound of Young America (I moved that money over to pay for Jesse's Put This On web series)

Download but guest dependent: Nerdist, Making It with Riki Lindholme, You Made It Weird, The Champs, Beginnings, B.S. Report with Bill Simmons, WTF

Download individual episodes only for a special guest: Dork Forest, Totally Laime, Shakeytown Radio Hour, CB Radio, Comedy Above the Pub, Gentleman's Club, Who Charted

Shows I enjoy when I listen but can't seem to crack my regular rotation: Long Shot, Mental Illness Happy Hour, Comedy Film Nerds, Minivan Men, New York City Crime Report with Pat Dixon, Nerdist Writers Panel

Shows I download with the best of intentions but never listen to: Thrilling Adventure Hour, Deep Shit

    Re: Favorite comedy podcasts?

this past year i've been enjoying a lot of the newer podcasts coming out: how was your week, improv4humans, the champs, the dana gould hour, you made it weird, who charted (if that counts as new), walking the room (new-ish).

old guard favorites: best show, wtf, stop podcasting yourself, dlm, monday morning podcast.

podcasting is dead! long live podcasting!

which podcast has the best theme music? i like how was your week, how did this get made and the themeweavers best show theme.

I often wish the Nerdist theme song would play to the end.

I have an alarm clock that wakes me up to the theme from Making It.

(I'll post here and let you know if that ever works.)

I love a good David Naughton reference. There's just not enough of them in this day and age.

Anyone into improv should check out the Improv Nerd with Jimmy Carrane- He's a chicago veteran improviser and he has other legendary improv people on the show. The first half of the show is an interview and the second half is him and the guest doing improv. It's really good, though it is more focused towards the Chicago people, rather than the UCB people. He did have Tim Meadows on the show, along with others like Dave Pasquesi, TJ Jagodowski, Susan Messing, Mick Napier, etc.

    Re: Favorite comedy podcasts?

Newer ones (for me) are The Scott Thompson Podcast (Scott Free), My Wife Hates Me (Rich Vos, Bonnie MacFarlane) and The Dana Gould Hour.
Slightly newer (for me) is 'How Did That Get Made'. I might have found it last year, forgot about it and now just rediscovered it.

I'm hearing about 300 new comedy podcasts are coming out each month so this thread ought to catch fire with the updates.

    Every episode:
Comedy Bang Bang, The Dead Authors Podcast, Doug Loves Movies, Earwolf Presents, Judge John Hodgman, Nerdist Writers Panel, On Cinema, The Pod F. Tompkast, The Todd Glass Show, You Made it Weird (Only because it's new, I expect this to eventually become guest dependent)

    Guest/topic-dependent:
Bullseye, The Flophouse, How Did This Get Made?, Making it with Riki Lindhome, The Nerdist, Sklarbro Country, Who Charted, WTF

When I've got extra time to kill (some of these I listen to every episode of in batches when I have free time, others I just listen to occasionally):
The Dana Gould Hour, Gelmania, improv4humans, Mike and Tom Eat Snacks, The Smartest Man in the World, Superego, Thrilling Adventure Hour

There are other shows I'd like to listen to but I'm at a point where adding a show usually means getting rid of or listening to less of another show.

Here's something I like: bert kreischer has his own podcast, it's called "the bertcast". I listened to the ari shaffir one last night and it was pretty good. I like Bert's laugh a ton and he always tells great stories.

I feel like, whenever I find a new podcast that I like, it's just on the brink of disappearing. This happened with "Please Be My Girlfriend," which I think fans of MaxFun would like (the two hosts remind me of a Southern "Stop Podcasting Yourself"), and I'm worried that it's happening to the bad sketch show cold reading podcast, "Before You Were Funny" (usually a twice-a-month show, hasn't aired an episode in over a month). Not that I don't appreciate my bedrock of great, reliable podcasts, but I like hearing new voices sometimes, and it's frustrating to hear 10 or 15 episodes of something new and then have it disappear.

    Re: Favorite comedy podcasts?

As we near the end of another solar orbit it's time to TAKE STOCK, right? In this economy?

    1. Who Charted? - Week in, week out the most hilarious and delightful show in all of podcasting. I don't care about charts. It doesn't matter.
    2. Comedy Bang Bang - Perhaps less consistent than other great shows but when it's great it's sublime. And The Choctaw is always fantastic.
    3. Keith and The Girl - The originals. The pioneers. The truest professionals. Heading into their 9th year of podcasting still kicking ass NYC-style.
    4. Jordan Jesse GO - Moves a lot slower than most other shows on my list, but is no less fun because of it. Two of the most lovable goofballs around.
    5. For Those About To Rock - Not a comedy show but still manages to be very funny and also very, very lovable. Top-notch northern English banter.
    6. Never Not Funny - It took me way too long to realise how magical it was behind that paywall. Now I hope the Pardo and Belknap train rolls forever.
    7. Adam Carolla Show - Look, I knoooooow. But I can't help it, the guy is wildy talented and Alison Rosen is crazy fast with the one-liners and quips.
    8. WTF - Got on board for #1 but was on and off for a while. Lately though I've found myself listening to and enjoying nearly every episode again.
    9. Ten Minute Podcast - Sasso, Callen and D'Elia have solid gold banter as they take the piss out of machoness and masculinity 10 minutes at a time.
10=. The Flop House/MBMBaM - They almost drown in their own self-parodic nerdiness but they're so lovable I keep going back for more.

Honourable mentions: Harmontown, Indoor Kids, Bullseye, Doug Loves Movies, Gentlemen's Club, Nerd of Mouth, New York City Crime Report, You Made It Weird

    Re: Favorite comedy podcasts?

Makin' lists is good fun. My list has changed since the last time too. Many of my former favorites have become guest-dependent listens.

    (not in order)
    1. The Long Shot - The best, most fun podcast in my book. The riffing, the chemistry between the four hosts, I just fuckin love it.

    2. The Dana Gould Hour - An erratic drop schedule, but it has an original feel and different segments, and since Mr. Show ended, it's the only place where I can regularly get John Ennis doing a character.

    3. The Todd Glass Show - It's just the silliest, funnest, and most unstructured way to spend 10 hours.

    4. Never Not Funny - This show has been on a roll this season, especially the eps with Richard Lewis and Paul Reiser. I will always love this show, just like Whitney Houston loved her bodyguard or whatever.

    5. You had to Be there - A new favorite. Something about it has a fun energy that most podcasts don't have.

    6. Fitzdog Radio - Another new favorite. I'd listened to it on and off for a while. I like the fact that Fitzsimmons seems to treat it more like a radio show than a long podcast style interview. We're there to have fun, not get boringly deep.

    7. Walking the Room - always funny. I find their sweaty-closet-anger more comforting than a warm blanket.

    8. My Brother, My Brother, and Me - Just silly fun.

    9. Sklarboro Country - I like this show more and more. I think I avoided listening to it for a while because I didn't know anything about sports, but turns out I'm stupid and you don't need to know anything about sports to enjoy it.

    10. Doug Loves Movies - This was out of my rotation for a while, but now it's back near the top. Can't even remember why i stopped listening to it now.

Former cherished favorites like WTF, Nerdist, You Made it Weird, Comedy Bang Bang, and Jordon! Jesse! Go! have all become completely guest dependent listens for me. I don't know, maybe I just got burnt out on them.

My 2012 Best Comedy Podcast List

I think about podcasts as whom I want to hang out with in my head, and here's who currently makes the cut:

    1. Walking the Room. Nothing else like it, and Dave and Greg's chemistry is the best in the business.

    2. Doug Loves Movies. Such an amiable mess of a podcast, and even the episodes that are complained about as "bad" are still wonderful.

    3. The Smartest Man in the World. Greg Proops is smart, fast, and funny. What more can you ask for?

    4. The Fogelnest Files. I love Jake's strong point of view and ability to find things I have never heard before.

    5. Harmontown. Another 2012 debut that's a delight. And Jeff Davis is a revelation. Another improv god who just kills it in podcasting.

Gotta give some love to Improv4Humans. Absolutely hysterical every week. Same goes for Cashing In With T.J. Miller.
